[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

I really just want to know if there is going to be a 1yr price that isn't ridiculous . I was in Verizon yesterday and the sales guys said it was going to be something like $600 on a 1yr plan. Granted these guys don't know a lot usually but I was kinda counting on $369

I would have to agree. I'll hold onto my Eris for some time and wait for a price drop on the phone itself, or see what's next. If 4G pricing is capped below 5GB and above the $30 unlimited 3G that I pay now... then I don't see how it would make sense to get this phone.
I would wait around but the DINC I purchased off ebay last week ended up being a dud. it shuts off and restarts over and over it I do anything other than call or text(Can't use any apps or internet)

next week I am going to hike part of the Appalachian trail, and it the tb is not out by the time I get back(Regardless of 4g pricing) I will get something else.

I was told by 2 stores they we not doing a one year contract. Who the hell knows anymore.

I kinda had a feeling they were going that route after getting rid of early upgrades and the iphone not having a 1yr contract . I'll just have to be smarter alternating my upgrades

You'll know in a couple of days if not sooner. I just called VZW to make sure my upgrade is in place and the rep said he was waiting on a TB too. Said "soon" and I asked how soon and he just said "very" but didn't want to get my hopes up. I'm thinking they will keep the price high on a 1 year just to sell the 2 year. Why not 2 years at the under $300 price?

I keep seeing people say things like this and I don't get it. If tiered 4G comes with this phone ... that's what it's going to be for the foreseeable future. It's not like if you wait for the Bionic or the 2012 crop of 4G smartphones, you're going to cheaper tiering.

I'm fine with the 2years it just means I'll need to wait 12months to use an upgraded instead of 8 that I would have on a 1yr (these are just my calculations on my multiple lines and keeping updated on all of them ) I think this phone will be fine for a year. I think I've had my Incredible for close to a year (got it at launch)

On the plus side I should be coming home to a nice new Gtab tomorrow so that will keep me entertained if the TB doesn't come out this week

Did you end up buying a tab?

Which part and how long you stayin' out for?
we are gonna be on the north Georgia piece. I'd give a more specific area but my buddy is the one who has our route planned out. we are gonna get there around 12ish tuesday next week, and we'll be leaving about the same time on Friday.

I think the total hiking distance we have planned is around a 30 mile round trip.

I personally will stick with a 3g phone, and skip out on 4g stuff until they no longer make 3g phones.

Obviously I mean I'll keep my current contract and upgrade the phone (3G) while keeping my contract in tact. Much like AT&T customers with an iPhone did when tiered pricing came to AT&T.

In other words, I won't be getting a 4G phone

Actually, you can't do early upgrades anymore. EVERYONE has to wait 20 months now. And the upgrade on a one year contract is after 10 months not 8.

Everyone, that is, that upgraded after Jan. 16th. So if you upgrade now, you don't get 1yr upgrades anymore.

No, not yet. Waiting to hear if my contract is renewed for another year, will know in about a month. Couldn't find a used one on Ebay that was less than a new one if I recall. (it was very close to full retail, used and from Australia) I'm also still trying to justify it since I'll have a 4.3 TB, 3 laptops and already beat every level of Angry Birds with 3 stars. :D But do let me know how you like it. I can probably talk her into approval if it has a decent reader for public domain books.

Incorrect.

1. All customers who activate / upgrade on a qualifying plan prior to January 16th, 2011 are enrolled in NE2 (New Every 2) and eligible to use the NE2 discount for up to six months from the date they become eligible.
2. Any customer who uses an NE2 credit or Annual Upgrade after January 16, 2011 will no longer be eligible for either program. On March 6, 2011, VZW systems will be updated to reflect this.
3. All customers who exercise the NE2 or Annual Upgrade option on or after January 16th will receive a letter notifying them that it was their last NE2 or Annual Upgrade.
4. Business customers continue to receive either the two-year corporate matrix tiered device pricing or two-year retail device pricing per contract.
5. Customers will now be eligible for promotional pricing after 20 months on a 2-year contract and 10 months on a 1-year contract.

But how long will that work? Aren't you just delaying the inevitable?

And yes, you could swap carriers, but how long will that work? AT&T and VZW follow each other like hawks. Sprint and TMobile look to be merging and the new combined company will have to keep pace with the other two remaining big carriers to stay competitive.

I understand this . I have a 7 lines that alternate upgrades with. Only 3 of the lines have smartphones the rest have basic flip phones so I pay cash for those when the need to be replaced and use those upgrades for the other lines . Which is where I came up with those time frames

Yeah they were all around $400 . I had a discount from QVC so I got it for $380 shipped from them split on 4 payments . Otherwise I probably wouldn't have gotten it. I will definitely let you know how I feel about it and if I use enough to justify once I have my TB and I just bought a new laptop as well . So we shall see

I like my toys haha

Seems if they want to slow down phones sales, this is the move to make. If not, they are cutting the branch on the wrong side of the tree (VZW being on the branch).

I'm confused:confused: how is that not what I just said?

edit: just realized that sounded very snarky. That was not my intent. sorry if it came across that way.

Ahhh I see. I juggle upgrades on our five lines as well. LOL it seems I'm never more that 6 months out of an upgrade! :D

I have 4 and used to do the same thing. But now my 2 kids have Incredibles and will want to use "their" upgrades once I get my TB, I just know it. So I'm basically down to 2 upgrades, mine and the Mrs. She has an LG flip and loves it. (gets 3 days on one charge) So I'm using hers for the TB and saving my NE2 in July for .... not sure yet. But I'll have until Jan 2012 to use it.

No ofense to bb employees but I would think they know just about a much as us not saykng I don't think you keeping us informed is bad I thank you for that but until i hear it from the horses mouth I don't believe this thursday

Very true. I am not in charge of the announcements but here's to hoping there will be one soon!

Okay, I'm distracted enough. Back to work. Talk to you guys tonight.

it seems awful convenient he posted that 5 minutes after verizons facebook update, and copy and pasted from their page.

Hey guys. I'll be pretty busy today working on allocating Japan relief funds, so I won't be able to answer many questions until tonight. While we're waiting you can help out a good cause simply by texting one of these numbers for a $10 donation, which I will personally send off to the foundation of your choosing:
