Another Thunderbolt released on 17th rumor

The Xoom is really a 3G tablet. They advertise 4G upgradable, don't tell you when, how much for the data, and what will the battery life be.
I have a feeling that many people will get really pissed off and disappointed once/if the upgrade happens.

Thats why I said capable. I have one but also only paid $600.00 which is what the Samsung Gallaxy Tab cost so no, I wont be pissed off. They already pushed out one update so it looks more reasonable that the 4g upgrade will happen. At least they are taking the time to get it right before the upgrade.

I'm glad you're happy with your Xoom purchase.

IF Thunderbolt is released Thursday 3/17, what time would a person purchasing from a corporate store need to be at the store? I've never been in the position of buying a new gadget on release day. The store opens at 9am, should I be there at 6am or maybe 7am? Earlier? I realize all markets are different, but I'd rather error on the side of "I want my Thunderbolt now".

Any suggestions?

Dan
It's a good question, but I think I'll order it online. They give you the rebate instantly (none of this VZW debit card crap) and ship it Fedex overnight free. They have plenty, don't sweat it. I have a feeling they will take orders a day or two before store release so you have it on launch day.

The only problem for me is that they require someone to be there to sign for the package and my luck with Fed-Ex/UPS lately has been spotty at best. The ideal situation would be for me to have it shipped to a Verizon store, but they won't do that either, which doesn't really make sense to me, but oh well, I'll figure something out.

I'm trying to think if they drop it off without sig but you're probably right. So the only option, other than to stand outside like some nut, is to have it sent to your place of work or a neighbor's home. One other option.. you can send it to me since I work from home and I'll root it for you and make sure it's up to par.

If by "root" you mean, "tell my friends that it's mine and rack up tons of data overages on it" then I believe you! :p

VZW ships with FedEx and requires a signature. At least that has been the case for me. If you miss the delivery you can pick it up at the FedEx facility after a certain time. I have done that in the past.

What ever happened to being able to sign something and they keep it on file so you don't have to be present for signature for future purchases? I always have them sent to work as well if they need a sig.

If you sign a card for delivery and you are not home when fed ex comes they would have to leave it on the front porch. Someone could come by and steal it. Then what happens. That is why you have to be home and sign for it.

I've been stalking this phone, and these date threads for months. I have up to this point kept quiet because generally I go to the store where I always buy from, and talk to the same person I always buy from, and believe what I'm told. Well, today I was not only told that they are selling the phone on Thursday, I was shown the accessories as well.

Again, nobody here knows me, so take it for what it's worth.

I already setup the sale of my Inc and managed to get $158 for it.

They do have a dock in stock, as so many phones don't.

2 more days!

**SIGH**

Thought I would add something as well,

If you check this youtube link of HTC vs EVO by WireFly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-3MOvuPFvU

It shows as one of the comments by Wirefly saying....
ThunderBolt News Flash: The HTC ThunderBolt will go on sale at Wirefly starting March 17, 2011. That is the pre-order date and the phones will ship sometime later. Stay tuned for an announcement on the price and the ship date.

This is coming from someone that just had a package delivered today that was supposed to deliver on Friday, Fed-ex claims that you have to wait a 24 hour period before they can make the package available for you to pick-up at their facility. The package was due to be delivered on Friday and I called that evening, they told me I could pick up the item on Monday at their facility. Then today the package was on the delivery vehicle for delivery and I called them to see where I could pick up the item. They told me that I wouldn't be able to pick it up until Tuesday. When I finally got my package, it was damaged. Did I mention I hate Fed-Ex?

It says requirement and says Data Pan of $29.99 or higher and 4G sim Card. Are we going to get hit up with a cost on the sim card too?

You guys remember this advertisement from Entertainment Weekly Magazine dated February 28th:

If you sign a note telling the driver to leave the package they will. Make your own note done wait till they try to deliver it, or you'll have to wait till the next day.

When my incredible was about to be delivered by fed-ex in april last year i called the sorting facility and told them to hold my package when it arrived there and i would be by to pick it up. she made a note in the computer and i picked it up the next morning rather than having to wait at my house for the fed-ex guy to show up. also even if you sign a note and stick it on your door it is still at the drivers discretion whether or not to leave the package. they will leave it for sure if you sign the sticky note they put on the door though.

What if someone grabs it off your front porch before you get home.

Then the delivery company assumes no liability because you signed away your phone.

Some items they will not leave at your door even with a note. When I ordered an iPhone 3GS when they first came out, I was specifically told by UPS that they were instructed not to leave the phone at my doorstep even with a signed note. I think with certain merchandise, it's too easy for someone to claim they never received the package and have a 2nd oen sent out to em. I guess the more coveted an item is, the harder it is for people to trust you.
