I installed Icarus 1.1 last night but now all my root apps are gone. Do I have re-root my phone? I still have superuser but z4root, titanium backup and over clock widget are gone. Titanium pro is installed but I can't open it

Your phone is rooted with Icarus 1.1
Titanium Pro is only a key to open Titanium Backup. You could just reinstall Titanium Backup from the Market. The over clock widget could be reinstalled if you want to save on battery power.
I have a question. I am one of the few unlucky ones that mms doesnt work and was wondering if i did a stock restore and copied the factory mms.apk file from the system of huawei rom. Could it be possible to copy that into icarus system? I know the settings are exactly the same for cricket minus the metro apn being there, but it does not work on my phone with icarus's mms.apk file. Hope that this doesnt seem to stupid. Please any help with this would be great, i havent received any replies on my last couple of posts to this topic.

I have installed titanium backup pro but I can't open it. I have a backup on my SD card but I can't open those files either. The option to open doesn't even light up :[ Help!!!!x

Never mind I figured it out!!! I had to install the free version also. Now should I restore z4root? I was able to restore all my other apps. Everything is running smoothly and I recovered alot of space.

Hello, first post here. Thanks to everyone responsible for Icarus. I installed 1.0 with no phone operating system experience and it worked great first try. I really like it. I've read this whole thread and can't seem to find an answer to this question...Now that I have 1.0 do I have to start over and wipe everything in order to upgrade to 1.1? I'm wondering if there's a simpler set of "upgrade" instructions. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi I'm trying to flash Icarus 1.1 on my phone and I'm having issues getting clockwork 2.xx I have rom manager and followed the instructions in the thread and still have clockwork 3.xx can you please help me with this issue thanks

Because 1.0 did clearly have MMS issues, which were solved by doing very similar to what you mentioned above.
IF you installed Icarus 1.1 then you should have no issues with MMS. Now if you do, I guess the first step is to get a little more detail of the problem:
Example: Will it send 'long' messages (over the 150-160 character limit), where it switches to MMS automatically. OR is it a problem with sending pictures only? Mainly, just curious on this issue.
I still have the MMS.APK file that was to be used to "Fix" the issue in 1.0. You need to get Root Explorer, go to system/app, then you need to make sure that you click the Read/Write button in Root Explorer so that it will allow you to make changes to system files.
You then replace that file with the replacement MMS.APK, then DO NOT OPEN IT or do anything, Just RESTART THE PHONE.
After that it should take in the new MMS.APK and You'll be good to go.
Now, if your on 1.0, I would FIRST - HIGHLY SUGGEST flashing 1.1.
ALSO, Verify that all your settings in 1.1 are correct, i.e. your data settings, etc.
Just saying make really sure that you really do have this problem and it's not just a check box somewhere.
I'm sure you can find it all over the place, BUT, if you want I can send you that MMS.APK file just to make you life easier, IF you want to try that route.
I Have to admit though, I don't have experience with this as I have NOT had any problems at all with MMS. Pcs/Long msgs/etc. all come thru fine.
OH --- I JUST THOUGHT OF ONE OTHER THING!! POSSIBLE THAT IT IS A CULPRIT (Doubtful, but you HAVE to make sure of this before doing all that)....
I had a problem where I "THOUGHT" my MMS were not sending. Now, what you need to know is that MMS - WILL NOT SEND OVER WI-FI.
YOU HAVE TO BE ON THE 3G NETWORK for it to send out.
So, if all your testing and trying is with Wi-Fi on, then they will not send period.
I ran into this. I'm not 100% but I could have sworn in stock ROM they did send with wifi on, which meant it was just working around it and sending it out over 3G. BUT with Icarus, you actually have to have wifi OFF, then send it out over the 3G and they go just fine.
SO MAKE SURE TO CHECK THAT.
OK, if all seems ok and still probs and you want to try and replace that MMS file, If you have it great, if you want PM me and I'll send it to your email or whatever....

Cpuboost (free) has a nifty nitros button you can stick on your home screen and set to 600. Force runs untill you turn it off.
Profiles kept reseting before but I just use nitros so it doesnt matter for this purpose.
Spyder- again, cpu boost seems good for you. If you dont mind dropping a couple bucks cputuner is more stable and you can set your screen off max way down to save that battery.
If you run full max all the time your battery will last about four hours. Thats why I suggest cpuboost nitros or setting a low screen off threshold.

Ok so I have a question um how good is Icarus 1.1? because ive been thinking about updating but idk if the apps I have will sync correctly with it or if ADW Launcher works with it or not? I really like the sound of icarus and the update that isaac is coming out with sounds pretty goodI love my ascend I just want to make it better and smoother
some ppl say its tough installing icarus but I like a little challenge but just in case can anyone help me install it lol I would appreciate the help
Apps that run on stock eclair (2.1) work with icarus.
As I mentioned before (forgot your handle) adw runs fine.

Sorry, I cliff noted your quote, save some space..lol...Anyway you mentioned CPUTuner about spending $, well that's free too, BUT, it seems like it's reallly geared to saving battery life, whereas my ultimate goal is performance.
MY QUICK QUESTION: CPU Boots(Lite): Does say Root Required, no probl. BUT IT ALSO SAYS, "Overclockable Kernal", which I know the Ascend does NOT have. I assume that it should be fine as long as stay in that 600 Max range.
What I would really like is something to tell me what's going on with it. IS is really slowing alot, is it worth forcing it remain at a high level, except when screen of or something.
An Overclockable Kernal would be nice, but I'll tell ya, this lack of V2.2 is beyond ridiculus at this point.
I don't really travel much right now(used to alot), but NO WAY am I going to pay 50$/mo extra for Verizon/ATT/etc. JUST for the privlidge of being able to make free calls out of state/area into home. That is the ONLY difference between those plans and Cricket.
THAT SAID: I think my plan is to find a USED DROID X and see about having it totally flashed over to the cricket system, there are a few companies, rather than even try myself, I think I could but if they have guarantees, etc.??? Anyway. I know Cricket allows this, "Customer supplied Device"
So I guess I would look for a "Bad ESN" right? or does it really matter...as long as I have a working phone and it's one that they "Claim" they can flash, I'm all good.
The only danger, would be if Cricket made a major upgrade to the system, then you wouldn't get any of the upgrades or support, so that's a risk, but I don't believe one that would happen anytime soon, let alone during the life of the phone...
Oh well, just my thoughts for now..

Hey guys I have a few questions:
Flash: I have an app called SWF Player:

When I try to play a SWF file it gives me two options to play it with:
1. SWF Player
2. Flash Player
When I try to play it with the SWF Player it says Flash Player not found, which I guess is true because I never downloaded the apk and installed it. But why is the Flash Player there if I didn't install it? It doesn't how up in the Applications list. When I try to play it with the Flash Player it immediately force closes.
Also is the Flash Player that for some reason is on my phone compatible with Dolphin Browser HD? If it is do I need to enable it?

Gotta say a bit confused, you said you found the folder? The Icarus 1.1 signed.zip should be in the main area of the SD, not in any "Folder", AFTER you say "install zip from" sd card. I'm not looking at the instructions so I may be a little off, but I think you then need to tell it your going to look on the SD card for it, at that point it will bring up the contents of the SD card, you just roll thru those until you see the Icarus file, and select it. Pick it, it will then take it from there and install it form there.
The only place that could have gone wrong, are you sure that you put the Icarus ROM on the SD car in the Main directory. I hate saying main folder, because alot of people around here assume there should be a folder named MAIN. Where they just mean, put it on the SD not in any folder or anything.
I would assume you put it on there by plugging in you phone to the USB.
Plug in the phone.
Give it a second
Start ---> Computer
You will see the phone and the storage space remaining
Just drag the Icarus MOD to that folder (right drag, COPY HERE)
From there it will be in the right place and ready to go.
GOOD LUCK
I HOPE IT WAS SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS THAT. Think of it this way, you could have had the problem later, like 1/2 way thru the flash, or during the reboot or something, and get yourself some real problems....so this isn't that bad, although I understand It has a habbit of makeing you crazy...

I am running Icarus 1.1.
Off the top of my head, I'd say that when you installed the SWF player, you confused your system into giving a standard response - because Flash is required by SWF player. Personally, I'd uninstall SWF player - your installation isn't correct anyway.
I don't know if Flash Lite is supported by your phones or not, nor this rom.
For Flash content, have you considered the Skyfire browser as an alternative?

This did fix my mms issue. I did as you said with the wifi off workaround and everything is great. I do appreciate all the help and detailed instructions with this. Who would've thought that it was as simple as that. I went back and forth between roms numerous times wanting the performace of icarus with the ease of the stock rom. Now I am truly happy. Thanks again to everyone here on the forums for their info, input, and ideas as well as Isaac for the kick ass rom. Good luck to all for my lurking here is done!

Hey there...I'm glad that this helped you out. It drove me crazy. I stumbled on the answer, then Isaac confirmed it for me. I would send a long one it would convert to MMS, then NOT SEND. I would Long hold, hit forward to, and forward it to the original recipiant, but hurry and turn off wi-fi, and boom sent, sometime I had time to delete 1 of them, sometimes they got a double.. Then I learned how they have to go thru 3G,
apparantly, it has something to do with the way the carriers count them and monitor, etc...who knows...
The thing that bugs me, I can't remember, but I"m pretty sure that on the stock ROM, I sent MMS with Wi-Fi on, which meant it must have ignored it and send via the 3G. Just with Icarus, you need to do that manually. Which is an EXTREAMLY small price to pay for how well it works and how solid all of fixes are. Mostly the MMS..it is fixed, totally solid from the word GO. So, just to have to hit a button first then send it if your on wi-fi is nothing.
So, anyway.....I'm glad it worked and you got it all straight! Dosn't it make you crazy, when the solution (usually is) something simple, when you have been beating your head with a brick for a few days...LOL.
OH well....Take care...Glad that popped into mind mid-post...have a great day, enjoy Icarus, as I'm thinking it's going to be our best option, I've lost hope in a Froyo 2.2 release, so Thank goodnes Isaac has been so much on our side!!!! I'm running Icarus 1.1 and I just downloaded Barnacle Wifi Tether. It said that it needs "su" access to the hardware and that the device needed to be rooted. I checked with Superuser and Barnacle does have Superuser rights.
Edit: Nevermind I had to skip wpa_Supplicant.

I think they did release it. I downloaded it from there website (which I don't think too much of). I don't remember where on the site I got to it though. The file is kernel-2.6.29-M860-Eclair (I still have my original downloaded zip file on my thumbdrive). I opened it up on my Linux computer at work and I think I saw the config files in there. It's been a few weeks since I've had the chance to go through it. Or you may already have this I'm not sure, but if you (or anyone really) needs/wants it let me know I'll send it to you.
Isaac has that, we're looking for other. Bummer.
