Picking up a thunderbolt tomorrow.

Well I have had a fascinate since release and had a dx with it for past month and now I will get a thunderbolt tomorrow to compare. If samsung would release the 2.2 ota then I know it would be a killer phone compared to the dx and be on par with the thunderbolt. So I will keep people updated on my opinions in a week of use or so.

thunderbolt is single core processor correct?

Yes. Single. I have to say that for those of us who won't get 4G till probably 2013, getting a Fascinate for $40 (then rooting it and adding Super Clean), is not a bad deal compared to paying premium for the "latest" phone that I won't be able to get 4G on.... so I just got three Fascinates for $90 total. Not bad and it blows away what I was using in terms of speed (with SuperClean that is).
:D

Maybe I'll look at the Thunderbolt in 6 months or so....

My main concern about the Thunderbolt is the battery life, if its anything like the Eris or the Incredible, I will be steering clear of it, I love HTC Android phones, but I don't like the idea of buying a extended battery on a phone that should have decent battery to begin with, which is one thing I love about my Fascinate, a little frustrated that it there is no Cynogenmod on it, but hey at least it stomps on battery life compared to my Eris.

I agree that 40.00 for the fascinate is a great deal. When fascinate gets 2.2 it will rpobably stomp most of what is out there. I like being able to surf the web while talking on the phone as many times there are things I have to look up. I like the idea of being able to video chat with my daughter that lives 2k miles from me with her mom as her mom wont allow her to have a webcam.

We have a leaked 2.2 now, runs smooth and all that jazz but I miss my 2.1 UV Fascinate @ 1.2 ghz :D I could get like 36 hours on that haha

$250 for a 2 year contract (with no more annual contracts) for a phone that uses a radio 3/4 of the country cant take advantage and hardware thats been around since late last summer?

pass :)

verizon has to step up its android game...imo (and reality) att and tmobile have much better android lineups now...and if sprint gets the htc sprinter or whatever in the next few months it ll at least be on par with vzw

for the carrier that dropped the og droid...this is a huge fail

^ Good points.

Also, when they come out with a true ooo-ahhh! phone it will be for a lot more than $250 upon release. ;)

I forget, vzw got rid of 1 year contracts all together? So now it's 2 years or nothing?

Metro PCS is looking better and better everyday, which actually makes me very sad.

Thunderbolt is basically the Evo, way to go back months in technology. Wait for the Bionic.

It actually has more RAM, and actually the EVO is running on an older generation cpu/gpu than the Thunderbolt.

Also if the Bionic is anything like the Atrix, don't even bother with it. Motoblur totally ruins that phone.

annual upgrades are gone after you use your next one (for my verizon users the primary line on an account was allowed to upgrade a 2 year contract 1 year in for a new phone)

1 year contracts (non iphone) are still around

According to testings from early users, 4G LTE speed on Tbolt looks very impressive. I just wonder how long its battery can go. EVO was terrible with WiMax antenna on.

Does anyone know what the 4G data plan is like for LTE phone on Verizon? Tbolt is released now, but their web site is still pretty vague about it.

I guess I'll just start a separate thread directly asking the question. I was trying to be considerate and not clutter up the forums... figured the person who posted that they got these for cheap could maybe chime in with something or perhaps someone else with knowledge/experience finding these cheap.
