Root flash to metro?

so i have rooted my ascend and over clocked it but im tired of playing around with it.
i want to get a phone that comes with 2.2 or something that has other roms for it other than icarus. so does anyone know of any kind of phone that would be a good choice to do this with? and where i can find the instructions on flashing it over to metro?

2.2 and roms for it? On metro?
Why flash when you can grab an optimus?

Have you tried Icarus yet? Also this is a new phone so it takes time for custom roms to come out and there are some in the works.
Toke is right about the Optimus if you just want to get 2.2 (which Icarus does have at least one major advantage over, being able to put ALL apps on your sd and not just the ones designed for it).

About the flashing. Any phone that doesn't have a sim card can be flashed to Metro BUT if you have Metro do it you will probably lose some features. There are some independent stores with people who know what they are doing that will flash the phone for you and keep the features but it's going to cost you more, I've heard between $35 and $65 for the service. And there are a couple websites offering the service but I think you have to send them your phone though. I just did a quick check one day.
 
ON a very small amount of Android phones, Metro can unlock all the features. You'd have to contact someone about which exact ones though. Also, I've got the Optimus. If you are going to go out of your way to buy another phone, I'd suggest going for their 4G Samsung android. That's just because the Optimus to me is very similar to the Ascend. You aren't really going to be getting too much of an "Upgrade" outside of having Froyo and MT. X.x There are other roms out there for the Ascend but, I don't know how stable they are. Go to www.myascend.org / PrepaidAndroids.net - CONTRACTS SUCK! .
 
i decided to try icarus but wen i try to run the cwm flash recovery it says "windows could start this because adbwinapi.dll could not b found" anyone ideas y??

It sounds like windows didn't properly extract everything from the CWM zip file. Try re-extracting or re downloading it.
 
i had fixed that problem lol i just reinstalled the adb app onto my pc..but nosw i still cant get the clockworkmod i need to install icarus any ideas??

Thanks for helping. My birthday is today and I started celebrations last night, so giving advice right now would probably be a bad idea for me. There is someone else who started a thread with a similar problem that I think still needs advice too. Maybe they will see this thread too.
