hi there just wondering peeps about rooting?

if i root my phone does that means thats it or can use factory restore the reset it to the unrooted version?

can anyone point me to good guide to loading the oxygen and cyanogen roms into the sdk on windows for major dummies lol.

thanks un advance for this

Click the link in Suroot's signature, also just Google it tbh, there's is a ton of info on the subject, very daunting at first but I'm sure you'll be flashing roms in no time, if I can do it I'm sure anyone can, good luck bud. Oops lol, forgot that bit, you can't just do a factory reset to take it back to the original rom you bought it with, you'll need to flash your networks RUU to take it back to original.

You need to make a note of your software version (settings > About phone) to check if there is an RUU available to return to stock.

Click the link to my guides and FAQ's in my sig. There is a rooting FAQ that will clarify many questions for you.

There is also a guide there but read the FAQ first.

The link takes you to my profile with further links posted in a visotor message there

FAO AndyKnight, now THIS time I WAS beaten to it ;)

I'm fairly certain you dont HAVE to use the SDK, once rooted you can simply flash the rom from recovery, someone please do correct me if I'm wrong

i dont want to sue the sdk to get on my phone. i want to to use the sdk to see the rom before i flash it bascially.

so once a phone is rooted can it in a sense unrooted back to the way it was before?

Yes it can, before rooting if you check the software version running on your phone and get the matching RUU

Go to Settings>About phone>Software information and post up the software version

Yes like suroot said if there is an RUU to match your software version, will take it back to stock. You can explore the rom before you install it as it's only a zip file, just dont extract it,

yes it can be unrooted, but that's all dependant on whether or not there is an RUU available for your particular network, I think the only network (UK) that doesn't have one is Orange. Beaten by pretty much everyone there. Oh and is that wrong about the RUU being about the network? Thought it was network dependant not software version?

The software version number tells us if it is branded to a carrier / network (or not) and which one.

Edit> Just realised you want to run a rom in the sdk. No idea how a device specific rom works in SDK, but have a look here:
