Root Newb ROM ROOT question

Or better yet when I get the new 2.2.1 Update from Sprint OTA can I still use the One Click Root for Wifi tether?

You need to root your phone first, then flash a ROM. I wouldn't try rooting anything right after you get the update as testers needs to make sure the same exploits still work with the new OS.

Odin is good for getting your phone back to stock if you screw something up, not flashing or rooting. You'll root your phone by using the "one-click" methods, and then you can choose a ROM based on what you're looking for.

I think a great ROM and a good one for new people is the SyndicateROM Frozen. I'm running it now, and I had almost zero problems (only ones were caused by me) going from stock to rooted and ROM'd.

If you look over at XDA, you can find all the instructions and "stuff" you'll need within the first 2-3 posts of the ginormous thread.

Agreed on all points.

And here is that ginormous thread:
