Yeah..Its saved me a few times from getting pulled over :p

and heard about a robbery close by and the guy was "escaping" through our neighborhood. Was about to go out that night too. Also use it for some reason when I come upon wrecks..I guess just to hear what happened if it did not make the local news...

Are there any uber-geek apps out there that are enough to wow Bill Nye science guy types? I know that Google sky sounds cool, but I've seen apps like that when I had my iPhone 2 years ago.

I'm looking for a weather app similar to Fancy Widgets - but smaller... preferably fit into a 3x1 or 2x1 grid. I have Simi Clock. But I'd like something with more cool graphics to impress my iPhone owning friends.

Anyone recommend one?

I saw an augmented reality weather app, but it costs money so I said meh. Looked kind of cool though, you can see storm clouds coming when you're in your house.

I have a question about the gmail app vs the preinstalled email app.
I know the official gmail app recieves gmail instantly when they come, but can i just unistall the gmail app itself, an use the gmail setting in the standard email app, an still get emails instantly?

I'm using quite a few already suggested here and add the following suggestions:

Some paid, some free... No particular order

  • Gmail Unread Count - adds the total number of unread mails to the gmail icon
  • CopyCat Lite: Remember the memory game Simon...
  • Doodle Jump: addictive game, good for kids and adults (if you let kids touch your Tbolt...)
  • Driod48: HP48 scientific/graphing calculator emulator
  • Documents to go: Open/View/Edit/Save MS Word documents. Better app than the Office Mobile Apps on Windows phones.
  • ConvertPad Unit Converter: Convert almost any imaginable values to other unit systems.
  • Smooth Calendar: Ads a widget listing upcoming calendar events and a shortcut to Google Calendar app.
  • WeatherBug Elite: Detailed weather app with nice home screen widget.
  • No Lock: Disable that darn default slide to unlock feature on Android.
  • Google voice: Get "visual voicemail" for free, with transcriptions and stored vms in your Google account on your computer.

There are MANNNYYY threads about this already. Search and use those, as you're bound to get answers there.

ChromeToPhone is amazing. Don't overlook it just because you use FireFox. Search for Fox to Phone and you can install the plugin and use it with your FF browser. :D
