After reading more, some of you really just like to complain or are just trying to come up with excuses.

Not a worthy successor?

Compare the Droid 1 to the Droid 2

Again, what did some of you expect? The kick stand can stand will be included in a case or you can use a dock.

I have heard a few people say you can't turn off the 3D on the phone. What do you mean you can't turn off the 3D? There is a 2D and 3D option button on the side of the phone. The 3D feature from what I have seen is just for pictures and video. And it can be turned on or off. And I missing something or miss understanding what people are saying?

3D for the camera is controlled by that switch you mentioned. As far as I know, 3D can be toggled at any time as well within the software.

I'm personally on the fence. I think if we get Gingerbread and Sense 2.0, I will likely stick with the EVO 4G for a while longer until the true successor arrives.

I think if I wasn't gold I would do the same. For me there is really no worries since I get a yearly upgrade. If something better comes out I always have next year. But the main thing for me right now is that the E3D has more memory and it does everything my current EVO can do.

said it on xda i'll say it here no kickstand no buy...:(

HTC EVO 3D to get case with kickstand shortly after launch

Like I said before, I'm going to stick to my EVO. I'm Premier silver. So I won't upgrade to the EVO 3D. I don't think it's that much of an upgrade for me to spend the extra cash anyway. Don't get me wrong, the EVO 3D has awesome specs. I'm thrilled that Sprint is coming out with another super phone. But I'll just wait till next year. By 2012, there will be more advanced phones that will be out of this world.

I still have my upgrade since I didn't use it on my EVO. Got mine off eBay a month after release for relatively cheap.

I can't wait to see what the phones next year can do. But I think next year it be more about the tablets. It seems to me that is the direction the carriers are going.

Why would I want a phone with 2.5x the CPU power, 4x the GPU power, a 540x960 screen, 15% larger battery, a gyroscope and wireless DLNA when I can keep my Evo 4G?
Maybe certain people don't want to shell out a couple of hundreds and are not eligible for an upgrade till next year genius.

I'd just like to add, for those who are saying the upgrade isn't big enough, this is a pretty standard upgrade in terms of specs. This is certainly the successor to our EVO 4G. Look at the successor of any other phone; this is actually a bigger leap than most! Whether that is enough for YOU PERSONALLY is for you to decide. Thing is, the phone after this will be the successor of the EVO 3D, not the successor of the 4G.

I don't want to shell out a couple of hundred, nor am I eligible for an upgrade. But if Sprint doesn't give a deal to current Evo owners, I will just have my wife purchase the phone and I will cancel my contract and pay the $110 ETF (give or take $10 depending on when I buy). Well, at least that is what I am hoping to do. I can't see any issues with that.

I only give out my google voice number so I don't have a problem if I lose my number.

And thank you for the genius complement, that was very kind.

You're very welcome. I'll admit, thats not a bad plan though.

I'll probably upgrade cause this is my hobby, I love gadgets. I like to have the coolest thing out there. :)

I don't really care about 3D but the nicer screen, dual core and newer software will be nice.

I was thinking the same.

plus having a lot more problems with my EVO. I have to call daily to have them, reset the data on it. Just so I can get more than 50KB down. Going ot the store tomorrow, but I think since it should be warranty replacement for a bad 3G antenna as my data keeps dropping the data signal. The phone rep said I might be have to get a refub, which makes no sense to me.

Agreed. Sounds to me like 3D and the kickstand are the only thing people are having issues with. I don't currently have an EVO, I have a Samsung Alias 2 that I use with big red. This is a huge upgrade for me. I've owned the OG D1 and the DInc and loved both of those phones and the 3D will blow them out of the water.

I'm getting this phone when it comes out and I'm really glad I didn't jump ship to Sprint a couple months ago and get the EVO 4G.

Thanks EarlyMon!

I suspect by June, my practical side will kick in, and I'll stick with my Evo. But I'm actually quite impressed with the Evo 3D specs. The 3D part not so much, but the increase in pixel density, CPU and battery life sound like a major upgrade. Perhaps I'll see how much Evo 1 is selling for and make a decision then. I've been with Sprint for 12 years, so I can at least upgrade this year.

I'm sure before then we'll have a good idea from people reporting back whether it's awesome or not.

I agree alot with this post. The upgrade in battery life alone would be really helpful for me as I do go dirt bike riding and am at times a day or more away from an electrical plug and carrying multiple batteries with all the food, water, tools and spare parts really isnt the most practical idea. One fall and something happens to the battery or water gets to it and its all going downhill fast.

I like the pixel density increase and the better CPU could make my phone better for gaming which I wouldnt mind. It would be kinda cool to see some of my dirt bike videos in 3D as it would really give you a sense of my speed and how huge some of the hill climbs we do are but honestly I dont have any other 3D tech pieces to view it on and condensing something like that to such a small screen really wouldnt do 3D justice.

I will be keeping my EVO4G until the successor to the E3D comes out if it gets Gingerbread and the Sense UI update which I believe it has been said they will. Just not officially released yet.

I'm not rushing out to upgrade, but I reserve the right to eventually do so. I'm not yet sold on the need for 3d in a phone and still see it as a cheap gimmick. I don't see an any allure to a 3d interface nor do 3d video or a 3d camera capture my attention. Once the phone is out in the wild and user reviews start flowing in, I'll revisit that opinion. I'm also going to be interested in what kind of battery life the '3d is getting. Significant improvement over the current Evo might sway me, but I doubt we'll see that. OTH, Thunderbolt type battery life would make the '3D a non starter for me. As it stands, the only benefit I see for me in the '3D is somewhat faster performance and a little sharper display, which is worth ~$0 to me. As it stands now, I might be willing to risk the outstanding stability and reliability I'm getting from my Evo if I could sell it for the same or more than the subsidized price of the '3D. And I'm not due a subsidy till August. Since the poll is now, I have to vote that I'm sticking with the best damn device I've owned in years, the EVO 4G!

I honestly felt the kickstand was a cheap gimmick too. Im not watching 2 hour videos on my phone though. The only thing I actually really use my kickstand for is to keep the camera lens off the table.

1080p video capture +
Higher pixel density +
1.2 Dual Ghz Processor ++
Stock with gingerbread/new sense + (Evo 4G will catch up)
3D IMO - ..it probably dosent look like true 3D and even if it does that would give me a headache, plus too gimmicky. just straight up dont like the idea of it
No kickstand -
5mgp Dual back facing cameras - another negative imo . although it takes 3D pictures that dosent really appeal to me, I would much rather have seen them bump the camera to 10 or 12 mgp (like the nokia n8)
Physical appearance and form factor - I think the Evo 4G looks much more appealing

The positives definitely outweigh the negatives, but are they enough to ditch my current evo.. i doubt it, but we'll see when there is more in depth looks at this thing

A higher MegaPixel count does not mean a better picture. The Evo needs a better lens and software for better pictures. Thats the thing Im holdingout for the most is a really good picture taking phone that will match the EVO 4G spec wise.
