Spyders assumption is right. Sort of.
For some reason the os sometimes tries to boot from the SD card and you get bootloop.
Personally i would try what he did with the battery drop, and start over.
Sorry you are having trouble but don't worry, this phone is damn near un-brickable.
I've noticed that my calls are being forwarded to voicemail. I reboot the phone and it stops. Anyway to prevent this without having to reboot so often?
So you are getting no ring at all? just right to V-mail, the person calling get's your V-mail direct the same as if your phone is turned off??
Just curious about the details. OK, obviously something is up w/ the phone or resetting the system since it stops when you reboot.
How long does it stay working well after a clean boot?
One thing that can't hurt, very doubtful it will be helping but worth a shot. This is have a reset done on the system.
1st: Do this by dialing *228 - Then don't touch anything like it will tell you till it's done.(IF this doesn't work goto 2nd step)
2nd: Call and have Cricket reset the system, which they will then tell you to do a *228. They will just do an extra reset on their end.
I went thru that when I had no signal anywhere, and it just was "Outta Wack".
Give that a shot, Toss a few more details and let us know where you end up.
All the best.
Jeff
No ring, it went straight to voicemail.
When it first occured, rebooting didn't fix the issue. I did the *228 and that fixed it. Now it is back to forwarding to voicemail but a reboot-only fixed it last night. It's working this morning but I don't know for how long.
I was curious if this is a bug that others have had with Icarus because it was not happening to my phone before. With that said, I am very happy with Icarus otherwise.
for the second time ive completed the instalation of icarus only to have my phone stuck at the huawei screen insted of rebooting like the instructions said what could be happening because this is so shitty i want icarus and it seems like i will never get it
cricket has been playing with their network, it seems to be kicking some people into roaming too.
I'm having some problems with Apps2SD. I checked to see if it was running using this Terminal Emulator:
https://market.android.com/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&feature=search_result
But it says command not found. I did parition my SD card using the step in the guide for 512MB.
You mentioned your having "....some problems with a2sd...." What wold those problems be? It's not working at all, there are 1000's of things, absolutly no disrespect, but to get some specific help to fix your problem, your going to have to define it a little better.
Also you said you tried a check using terninal emulator. Ok your right get terminal emulator,
My first guess about the problem why it wont run the check, You HAVE TO type : " su " (without the quotes) to give super user access to the terminal. If you didn't do that first then it will not be able to run any of those commands.
That is just my guess.
type : su (get the superuser)
type : a2sd check (go thru the output and see what's up if you don't understand, just ask")
type: Go with Tokepokes advice to allign and then install with make sure all the apps are moved over to the SD.
OK?
Let us know how it goes. Again just to drive it home, everytime you go to terminal to check on things with a2sd, you seed to make su your first command period, if it's telling you bad command or whatever I'm pretty confident with my guess.....
Good luck
Jeff
I'm not sure where you are exactly. I was glad to be right about the su thing, so now your goin' strong.
The format for any command is: a2sd XXXXXX (where XXXXX=command)
so to check things out and see what is going on right now type:
a2sd check
then all this stuff will come up but it will be easy enough to understand to make sure everything is going correct
then
a2sd install OR a2sd reinstall (same thing) that will push all the apps over
Then definatly do the zipalign and then it's up to you if you want to move the Dalvik cache to the card. Maybe leave it alone till you get used to it. But I have mine moved and it freed a TON of memory and runs just as well.
Normally when it says -more like that just keep hitting Enter and it's going thru a list telling you all the commands or something?
When you type a2sd help it goes on to list all the commands: and it constantly stops and says more....you hit enter and the rest comes up...
Good luck...Jeff
more means if you press enter it will give more info, i believe.
Yep, just hit enter and it will give more commands, with help you will have to hit end a few times to get to the end.
To answer you: Yes, it looks to be working fine. Two things:
1. Zipalign is not running at boot, so open terninal, type:
a. su
b. a2sd zipalign
Then zip align will run on each boot. Helps things run a little smoother.
2. The Dalvik Partition is running on the internal memory. This is a matter of choice/opinion. One thing I can say is, IF you let it run off the phone, you need to have at least a class 4 card or it will be too slow and you will run sluggish, but if you have like a new 8GB or something like that even a 4, chances are it's class 4.
The good thing is though a2sd is designed so that if you move the Dalvik partition to the SD card it opens a TON of memory on the phone, but IF it seems like it's more sluggish or not quite as good for you; It is set up so one command puts it right back on the phone to run.
read thru the a2sd help for the commands, I know that a2sd nocache moves it from the sd back to the phone, and I'm nearly positive it's a2sd cachesd to move it over. So if you move it over with cachesd and things don't seem Good, just run a nocache and it will put it right back.
Just note: It takes a little while to move it all over, but you will have like 40MB+ extra on your phone.
Again, do at your own risk....which for me means, just do it, you'll figure a way out later if you screw up...LOL.
BTW: when I hit a2sd help: I had to hit enter like 50 times to get to the end. That percent you see is your percent thru the info, so at 50% your 1/2 way thru help info....it's not a file running progress really.
OK...post how it goes...curious how you end up.
Good luck..
Jeff
4) Open the CWM Recovery folder that you downloaded. Find and Run the fastboot- file according to your OS. Extract all if necessary. One you run it, you should get a black window that disappears immediately. Phone may still be at the Huawei screen. Then Run the install-recovery- file according to your OS.(If there is any command prompt problems or the pc says waiting for device,go into control panel/sys/device manager and find android 1.0 right click and update driver.)
