Help Can I create a google contact in froyo?

It seems incredible but it looks like you cannot create a "google contact" in contacts after upgrading to FroYo. Does anyone have any idea hot to do it? By "google contact" I mean a contact that will synchronize with contacts on my Google account. CapFaq directs to an app called Contacts GroupU, but it looks like it does not solve the problem. It is driving me crazy. Any ideas hot to fix it? Thanks.

Use the standard Contacts app; not GroupU.

From contacts, go to Menu->Settings->"Save new contacts to" and select "Google"

That should do it. You can also go to Menu->Display options->"Choose contacts to display" to organize what kind of contacts you want to display: phone contacts, sim contacts, google contacts, etc.

That was easy! Thanks for help. In fact it is embarrassing I did check it out on my own. However it is buried rather deep.

When I create a new contact it asks me where I want to save it. No digging required!

This is how it worked for me before FroYo. OK, you can set the "save contact to" to "always ask", but in my case it was set to "phone" after the update. I just realized this after failing to synchronize the newly created contacts with google.

I noticed this last night as well. I'm glad I compared my contacts with Google. :)
