Ok so I lost root and want to re-root using the unrevoked method but....

when I first rooted my phone, someone told me to go to the unrevoked website on my phone and all i had to do was click on the logo and BAM! i was rooted no problem. well that was about a year ago and sprint screwed up my phone by accidentally shutting it off and when i got it activated again I had no data(internet) and they tried a bunch of codes and to no avail I had to go back to stock for it to work. at the time I was running AOSP 2.3 but now i want to root again and I really don't want to do ADB method so I was wondering if anyone has the link to the one click unrevoked method that I go to using my phone's browser.:(:(

Simple either download Z4Root and install on your phone and it is one click and no PC or use Regaw's version which is also simple and fast.

I just unrooted back to RUU .7 this weekend and re-rooted. My objective was to update my PRI that was woefully old. Not sure it resolved the issue I was hoping for, but I am now familiar with rooting again. It's alot easier than when I did it way back when.

Ragaw method worked slick as can be for me. I would just follow his instructions and it took the 50seconds he promised. I am back on AsopGB ROM again. :D

What version is your handset's PRI? Mine has a version of 2.20_003.

I was sort of hoping there was an easier way of updating one's PRI than having to reroot. I guess I will do some research on it.

There is, I think I read that you can use your rooted stock Rom, but I will have to find that post again where I read it, I will check in the morning, and if you find something before me let me know, I will keep you posted, I know I read it somewhere.

One more thing if you go back to your rooted Rom, you will most likely have to update either your launcher if you were using Launcher Pro at the time or your VVM, if this is the case, once you do update make sure you create a new Nandroid as it is painful having to update all that again if you need to use your rooted Sprint Rom again ;)

It looks like version 2.62_003 is the latest. Would flashing the latest radio update the PRI as well?

Also, could I just get the OTA update to .7 that I have been ignoring in my stock Android 2.1 with Sense ROM to get the PRI update? I would think I could just reroot via Z4Root after that unless the .7 update does not break root anyway. It has been so long I forget now. Haha.

LBP, you are correct 2.62_003 is the latest I saw. (I think I goofed when I PM'd you).

I flashed to the latest radio (2.42.02.10.29) months ago and it didn't update my PRI or my PRL. I flashed the NFX Stock Rom and updated my PRL, but I couldn't figure out how to update PRI. Got a lead from CrashV2010 over on XDA that he had unrooted to get latest PRI. So I decided to give it a try. I used the RUU method here
[RUU] Official 2.31.651.7 in ZIP Format, Flashable from Fastboot - xda-developers
That RUU has the .27 radio.

- RUU
- Used RegawMOD Hero Rooter (slick)
- Flashed .29 radio (again)
- Booted into ROM and updated PRL again. It appears that 60676 is highest PRL available on the .27 radio. So after I reflashed .29 radio I did another PRL update and got the 60677.
- Then I did a fresh install of AsopGB 3/26 w/Firerat

Note: there was an OTA that was offered while I was on the RUU rom. I almost accepted it, but chickened out. Not sure if they have closed another loop hole that would prevent me from gaining root and didn't want to chance it.

End of the day, I believe I have all the latest updates for this phone and my reception still sucks! :( At least I know I tried everything I know. And I re-learned how to root. WOW is it easy now!!! I did it the good old-fashioned way. With these one click rooters I don't know why anyone would run a Hero without root! ;)

My rooted stock rom was about 4 recovery images ago. Don't know a way to get back there without flashing back to the old recovery. It was just as easy to run the RUU.

The previous time I was on a sense ROM I also updated the Sprint VVM and the Sprint Nav applications. Then I backed them up with Titanium. Not sure if the Nav requires you to be on a sense ROM, but did it as long I was there. I don't use the VVM right now, use Google Voice instead, but figured I might as well have it available if I ever wanted it back. I was hoping the Sprint Nav would avoid the GPS reboots on GB rom, but no luck.

I think that OTA update that popped up might have contained the latest radio. I just checked around and, yeah, that update did contain a new radio baseband, as well as a new PRI: xda-developers - View Single Post - [UPDATE 11.22]2.32.651.2-rootable!! + info- . I appreciate the detailed write up of what you did to get your PRI updated, but there might be an even newer one.

My only wonder is would I get the updated PRI if I could just allow the OTA updates that always pop up on my stock Android 2.1 with Sense UI to install and then reroot? I think that Z4Root still works even with the .7 build of stock Android 2.1 with Sense UI.

Okay, so I tried to do the OTA update to see if it would update my PRI. In short, it will not let me update.

I can download the OTA update and when it reboots, it gives me the Android with triangle and exclamation point screen. I can get into ClockworkMod Recovery from that screen by holding the volume down button and pressing power, but I do not think I can apply the OTA update from there.

Intriguing... So I wonder how important it is to match the radio and pri? From what it sounds, .29 radio goes with the pri in the newer OTA.

Let me know if you try.
