Help Problem in Rom Manager Restore

Hi everyone,

i hope someone can help me with that coz it drives me insane

i have rooted DHD with installed Rom Manager 3.0.1.4 ... i performed rom backup and it went very fine ...

then i want to restore the backup .... i did the restore from the phone but many things are missing:

- background and home screen icons
- my CONTACTS !!!
- my SMS
- some apps (angry birds for example)
- smart keybord app is not working (shows me FC)

and sorry for myself ... it dont have any backup of my contacts or sms or apps in elsewhere

any help with that

I think you might of lost them for good if they don't reside elsewhere.
Rom manager backs up the phones rom, you'd need an app such as mybackup pro to backup absolutely everything. (sms, email, photos etc)

& even then, once restored, certain widgets & apps will need recreating/reinstalling manually (eg, 3g watchdog widget - no data, poweramp requires the trial app to be installed first, the paid app is just an unlocker of the trial)
This is probably the case for smart keyboard.

Thanks arlrb for replying ... but i have a question here, is my data (contacts at least) are in data.img file .... is there anyway to retrive or restore this data ???

I don't think so.
Where does this data.img file live? (i don't have one, but then i only flashed my latest rom last night)

As far as i know, data.img is related to the phones internal storage, not 'your' data.
But i could be wrong.

actually this data.img is in SD card under clockworkmod folder under backup ... it's created once you take backup by ROM Manager

on other hand ... where does the contacts recorded ??

This would be a backup of the rom then, contacts would be stored elsewhere & probably wiped when you did the restore.

The contacts data could well be stored within here for the phones usage (when restored), but trying to extract just the contact data from it would be near on impossible i imagine.

at least restore that data.img .... i'm totally lost

Sorry (edit above), i re-thought my answer & realised that it can't be. If the contacts data was stored here, you'd have it.

Unfortunately, i think it's lost.
Is there absolutely nowhere else your contacts were stored? (email account, sim card, windows address book etc)

for the copy phone knowledge
