Help Downgrading Android

When android 1.6 was on the hero it had this setting that let you choose how the way your phone recived data. There was 1X, which to my knowledge was supposed to be used when you were in a rural area. Then there was hybrid, which I guess was the default to be used anywhere. And then there was a third option which was the best and was supposed to be used in like a city. I'm not sure. Anyway I need to downgrade so I can change mine from 1X to Hybrid. Can someone help me.
 
Search the Market for a Data connection widget.
Believe there is a 1x.3g one out there.

Otherwise you will need to go to the htc site and Search for the 1.6 RUU -

I would root.....but thats just me.

So I just search Data connection or do I search Data Connection widget? And was does 1x.3g mean?
 
There's lots of info available to help you. I recommend doing alot of reading to get familiar with the process. Try reading the "sticky" in the all things root section here in this Hero forum, and if you need any help, post there and someone will be able to assist you. I found the easiest way to root is by using an app called z4root. Click here
