List your biggest complaints about Thunderbolt

Just that the kickstand cant be used when charging. Not a big deal though. I have no problem typing when plugged in since coming from an X. The keyboard is alittle slow for my typing from the xs multi touch. But I like the layout for this keyboard much better. Haven't seen the issue with video sound since i just got it today. So fsr im loving this phone though. 4G does kill battery, but man is it fast!!!

Anyone else noticing the coating on the kickstand scratching off really easily? I'm not sure what the coating is for or what the kickstand is made of, but it kind of makes me worried it will rust or ill loose that sweet Google logo if it comes off any more.

If you're worried about the kickstand getting rusty you might not be using the phone for it's intended purpose. Just sayin.....

Got the iPhone 4 for a change up. (been using Android since 2008) I was within my 14 days so I got the Thunderbolt on launch day. After the HORRIBLE battery life and some other issues I returned the TB and kept my iPhone. As of the 5th I decided I miss Android and resigned myself to the fact that I would just need the 2700 mAh battery.

Sold my iPhone and ordered the TB for full retail. It arrived yesterday with no sim LOL!
Also the extended battery is on back order. I finally got to a corporate VZW store and after 2 hours of the rep working on the phone with a tech support agent my phone was activated.

Long story short I charged the phone all night before it was activated today, to my surprise the battery is WAY better than my first one!!!!! There are a few build quality issues but nothing major.

I will keep the extended battery when it comes but if the battery life I saw today improves even more then I will be happy. I am sure an OTA update will help too.
I hope HTC comes out with a slim 1800 or 1950 mAh battery. But as I said this TB seems much better!!! :) :) :)

verizon told me that as of January there were no more annual upgrades and as of April 17th, no more one year contracts...That being said, since I have been waiting from Storm days to upgrade I can get the T Bolt for 149 on a 2 year....Just don't think I want to be stuck for 20 months with a single core...

Considering HTC has been the most developer friendly manufacturer on VZW, and they don't have anything dual core on tap for vz right now, I don't see anything wrong with jumping on the thunderbolt fro 20 months. You could always sell it if something else comes out before your eligible. Especially since you are getting it for 149 with your NE2.

when I say dev friendly, I mean not encryption the bootloader. The OG Droid was , of course, a dev phone bit we all know MOTO has change its policy on that.

The only thing I dislike about this phone after using it for 2 weeks (other than the overabundance of bloatware) is the placement of the charger. It is incredibly awkward to use when plugged in. Tried texting while plugged in and I wasn't really sure how to hold it. Not to mention what has already been pointed out a thousand times - can't charge and use kickstand in landscape mode.
Regardless of this annoying issue, I'm pretty happy with this phone. :)
This your first android phone? THe usb carger is in the same place as on my Dinc and Moto Droid. I have never had a problem of holding while the cord was plugged in. I always hold it kinda like this

but my middle fingers more towards the middle of the phone.
Any one having problems with the keyboard? Pop ups but wont type? Or it just mine.
I havent had it happen with the Bolt but I did have it happen to my Dinc a few times.

I really have no issues so far. Maybe I am lucky to have a sound phone or maybe I am not as nit picky as some people are

After actually getting to use a TB beyond a an hour and about, main issues are still as I expected after the previous shorter tests.

1. The TB does NOT have 8gb internal. Per a level 2 tech, 4gb was disabled for technical reasons (was not told why). So the device really has 4GB, of which about a 1gb is taken by bloatware, 2.5 gb free and the rest to the usual format parameters.

2. The charger is counter intuitive to the stand

3. The speaker is blocked by the stand

4. 4G seems to drain more power than practical, but can be toggled now and use as needed.

5. Device record for bloatware

The one huge plus for the TB is the display. IMO, no other display touches the TB's. My Inc may be a little more vivid and "true" blacks, but the overall look of the TB display is stunning and the Atrix SUCKS compared to it.

added:

Comparing the Atrix to the TB display kind of makes me doubt my Bionic intentions............

For the rooters, everything is relative. The TB is not anywhere as easy as the Incredible or previous devices. It seems obvious a key motive is to stop tethering via root, as well as keep people from removing the evil bloatware, of which the commercial devs pay VZW big bucks to shove on the devices.

I expect HTC to make efforts to shut their devices down from most rooting efforts- by demand of the carriers. Sure, some will still be able to root, but along with hardware fragmentation, the wild & rambunctious days of huge rooting communities are about over. Sad but true.

I thought the BT voice dialing on the DINC was bad but its great compared to the thunderbolt. The thunderbolt gets 100% of the commands wrong as opposed to 60% with the DINC!

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Humm that's weird its getting really annoying now lol and it just did it again as I was typing this ...tryed different keyboards and same issues..gna take mine back tomorrow n get it switched!

The feel of the volume rocker is bad. I've heard "squishy," and that's about right.

Bigger complaint is that it's on the wrong side, IMO. Holding phone in left hand, I want the rocker to be by my thumb. Not only isn't is where I'd like it, but, due to smallish hands and a large device, it's hard to reach.

Not really much to complain about, though. Still working on the battery drain ...

I've seen this question unanswered here, and was curious myself. Here's an explanation of bump charging I copied from another forum:

Someone should probaly explain bump charging in detail, but here's how to do it.

Charge your Incredible to max (green light).

Unplug the phone and then turn it off.

Plug it back in (should have an orange light now) and charge it to max again.

Unplug the phone and turn it on. Wait for it to boot up.

Turn the phone off and then plug it back in (should be an orange light again).

Charge it to full (green light) again.

Repeat this process until the light is green immediately upon plugging it back in.

Biggest complaint: device microphone doesn't work when you have earphones plugged in, so if you get a call you have to unplug the earphones. doesn't sound that big but it'll definitely interrupt your groove if you're handless listening to music and having to plug/unplug each time you get a call. This wasn't the case with the Droid 1, or the Blackberry. How could HTC overlook such a simple and critical feature?

Worked on this one for a while (called Verizon and HTC) and as far as I can tell, it's a hardware issue and likely not going to be fixed. Droid 1 had 2 mics for this reason.

Call HTC at 866-449-8353 and report the problem. They said if they get enough calls about it they will do something...

Lets see my biggest complaint I have with my Bolt. Would have to be not being able to delete the apps like blockbuster. Wont ever use it so why should it stay on my phone.

I am actually not going to root this time. Going stock for awhile. That is until I see if verizon is going to crack down on rooters. Plus I rooted my OG droid to speed it up and the Dinc I bought was already rooted. Plus the Bolt is fast enough for what I need so far.

But thanks for the suggestion to root.

rooting doesn't mean you have to rom and oc the hell out of it, you just need super user permission to delete system apps. You can run it stock after that if you wish.

i agree the tb is fast enough stock that rooting for performance isn't really necessary like with the og moto droid. i also rooted my og droid so i could oc it, but when i got the incredible it didn't need to be rooted at first because the performance was already good. then the vzw bloatware kept annoying me and i wanted to have free wifi tethering so i decided to root the inc just to accomplish that. having the freedoms afforded by root access, aside from overclocking was too difficult to not to take advantage of on the TB. carriers are getting out of hand with embedding all their stuff in the phone. the other good thing about rooting is the ability to return it to stock unrooted condition if you need to return the phone or take it in.

that said, i can see how rooting isn't for everyone. it's not a totally risk free process and if you actually use or don't mind the embedded vzw software then there's no reason to root. tb is good enough as is.

You can unroot, change the fastboot back to S-On and reinstall the stock firmware if you need to exchange it.

another to add to the list, screen auto-brightness does not work

Likely, you'll have to go back to the settings and select to turn your auto brightness back on. I've noticed that when my battery gets low enough it goes into a power saving mode, one of the features of which is to turn the auto brightness off, and dim the screen. It doesn't reset this when you charge it, you'll have to do it manually.

I have to say, I love my Tbolt, but I have one friend who says I sound muffled all the time - not sure if it's just me or just him or just the phone..

Also, WTH?? Where's my d*mn Video Skype? Seriously, get on it!

Another solution would be to invest in a set of headphones with a microphone on them. You might like that even better than just having the fix you're looking for.

I use a headset with a mic (wicked) and love them; the freedom of being able to continue to use my phone as a camera or web browser while I'm on a call with the headset is awesome.

Which wired headset do you use?
