Sad news about Sense 3.0

From Facebook:
HTC
Clarification: There are aspects of the latest HTC Sense that won’t work on some of our previous devices. We are working to incorporate other aspects that will. Stay tuned.

That would suck, I just bought widget locker.

Haha, I bought widget locker too. But I'd love to see what HTC has come up with.

I wouldn't mind that dock pictured in the Engadget article either, that looks sweet.

On another note, I find it hard to believe that a UI uses so much power that a dual core processor is required. I mean the Inspire is running the newest single-core Snapdragon isn't it? Weren't we discussing a couple months ago how beastly this processor would be?

Yet, now HTC is telling us that our processor isn't good enough for the full Sense 3.0 experience....

I just do not get it.

If all this stuff about Sense 3 not working on the Inspire is true I'm leaving. Well I'm pretty much over my Inspire now but we will see. My next phone will be the Galaxy S2 if.it lands on at&t.

That's why I went nexus. Won't have to worry about Google not giving it anything till at least the next nexus if not the one after that. I strongly believe that Google needs to start reigning in these companies to streamline android offerings

+1. Are you thinking about getting the Galaxy S2? Pretty cool if you ask me. I actually DO enjoy using TouchWiz, not to say that I don't enjoy Sense UI, but TouchWiz has it right with overall looks IMO. Plus, the OG Galaxy S had tons of dev support. This one also packs a dual-core chipset. Whats not to love?

Matt

Did Sense 2.0 ever work for anyone? Maybe they should fix that first. I can only get the phone to ring on the two HTC phones my family uses. Nothing else works.

I will probably wait for the nexus 3 in December with the tegra 3

htcsense.com only worked during the first week for me. then it all stopped working all together. and i agree if they're gonna give us a little bit of sense 3.0 they should fix 2.0 completely first. maybe work the bugs outta htcsense.com

Nice choice. AndreaChristiano, man of Nexus!!!!!!!!

Matt

Thanks Matt. I mean it makes sense its only about 8 Months away and I will use this Nexus as my daily phone now and then when closer to the release of the Nexus 3 i will use the current Nexus S as my developer phone for the app i wanna make and the Nexus 3 for both scenarios once the app is finished ;)

My thoughts exactly!
I went with the inspire knowing that HTC is one of the better companies that actually supports their devices, and now I feel like theyre gonna leave us behind. I am so disappointed.

really though, who cares if HTC gives us Sense 3.0...Anyone with a rooted phone can just get it in a custom ROM...
true that. but then again less technical users or someone not too comfortable with rooting (myself lol) may not be that lucky.
for the average consumer all we can hope for is that we get some of the better aspects of Sense 3.0

yeah I hope for the best for you. I'm definitely looking forward to Sense 3.0. Devs over at XDA have already started work on Sense 3.0 for Inspire. :D

to my knowledge htc has not updated phones pre sense2.0 to sense 2.0. So not updating the inspire to sense 3.0 has very little to do with specs and everything to do with seperating themselves from other android competition and driving up sales for their new phones.

android itself is a different story, every carrier gets the same google updates, and companies that don't upate look bad to consumers compared to their peers that do.

Running sense 3.0 now and it's smooth like butter. Loving the new add-ons

What ROM or whatever are you running to have that? Also nice to see a fellow Houstonian on here.

Running Ace Inspired v 1.0.1 with seo's addons. no issues at all except that sense 3.0 is definitely a battery whore. I have since switched over to CM7 nightly 76 because it's the only rom compatible with Netflix.
