Give Condemned CM 7 a try.

I was having weird issues with GSB myself during the past week - background apps not updating when they should, the market never telling me when updates are available, and the market rarely installs and updates apps on the first try. I'm back on xtrSENSE right now and I'm actually finding it working just great, with better battery life than I remember. So, there's always that.

That's funny, doogald. I just spent the last two days with GSB 2.9 on my wife's phone and I kept getting various issues with apps. I finally went back to xtrSENSE and I think I'm going to have her stay there...

I've been having issues with gsb too, are there any new xtrsense roms because I got my rom a while ago

It's up to 5.0.1 - the only changes that I know of are that the stock March 2011 update changes are incorporated, plus xtrSENSE adds a script that puts the phone in airplane mode at boot for 12 seconds to get rid of the 50% time without signal bug.

If you are having issues with GSB try turning JIT off and wipe the delvic. Been running for a few days like this and its much snappier than before. I don't think the Eris was meant to use JIT.
