I've just noticed all of the files that aren't showing up are mpeg-4 files which I guess are itunes protected files. Any ideas how to convert them to be playable on the desire?

that's one reason i wont ever buy apple dont like being told what i can do with something i've paid for
anyway, just did a quick google and theres plenty of people with the same problem and plenty of solutions - look here -

Thanks for that. Managed to sort it out with google myself but yeah like you said apple is stupid for controlling stuff you've bought
