Speaker under kickstand

Ok, we all know that the speaker sounds a bit better with the kickstand out.

anybody daring enough to do something about it?

i am debating doing some engineering to it, also monkeying around and seeing if i can reversing the direction of the kickstand itself. whomever decided to put the charger where it is, is FIRED. FIRED. FIRED. and i mean FIRED!:D

That's one of the first things I checked out. But its a no go, there is extra depth/different molding on the hinged end where the kickstand mounts.

I think drilling holes as stated above is the easiest solution. I've been wanting to do that but have not had the courage. Only way I would do it is to remove the kick stand and drill a bunch of little holes on my drill press. Make the kick stand look perforated.

Maybe I'll try to find time this weekend and post some pics.

You can set the phone vertical and the the charging corde isn't in the way.

But still doesn't solve the problem of watching media while charging. Its not a huge deal for me but it still pisses me off to think HTC did this on purpose (at least thats what i think).

Unless you want to watch videos fullscreen :(

Definately a design oversight...there are workarounds out there, but..yeah. Should've been thought of better originally. Funny how simple things like this get overlooked in R&D.

IMO what HTC should have done was. Instead of promoting google on the kick stand they should have put that logo above the HTC sign or something. That way they could have put a big hole in the kick stand or something.

I guess just more ideas for next time.

Hell, that Google logo is going to be gone for most people shortly anyway, what with the shotty 'paint' on it that is flaking off for people already (Me included...) :(

Speaker is actually very small. It sits at the end of the grille on the opposite side of the hinge. You can test this by playing a music clip and try to cover parts of the bar

Yeah, that speaker is very very small and weak. Makes me want to open it up and put a better one in there...

Hehe, that logo is laser etched on, you'll never wear that sumbitch out. Hell that logo will be perfect when the display is cracked and the edges of your phone are worn through.

:D

Really urs is flaking off damn. Mine dosent show any signs of flaking.

Damn I just noticed my kickstand is starting to flake as well, near the edge. I should probably take it back for an exchange (since the power button is almost flush with the top panel as well). The only problem is I hate the whole transition involved with swapping out phones. Seems like something from my old phone doesn't transfer completely to my new phone.

I think they should have recessed the kickstand into the phone just a slight bit, that way while the phone is laying on the table/desk/whatever and you move it, the kickstand isn't going to wear down at all....oh well...

A while back Verizon had a induction charger posted on their website for the thunderbolt. I wonder if it would work with the kickstand in landscape. Yes I know it hasn't been released yet but I could see Verizon and HTC choosing a flawed design to make a buck later on.

to solve the charge port being on the wrong spot, i drilled a hole in my night stand and rand the cord through it.
