People over at engadget and XDA have been posting success stories of original Droid, nook color, etc...I'm wondering if anyone has tried it in the hero...i'm not hoping for much, but hey, slingplayer works fine on the hero, so maybe, just maybe

Yes, I found it on the market, I have not installed I just looked for it.

really? on your hero? though it most probably won't work without the mod, but worth a try....i just logged in with the app, about to try it...crossing my fingers and my...wait, just my figers

damn, so close.... :(
i opened it, went to my queue, selected "dead like me" and resume ep 13, then it went to "loading" then it went to a black screen with a progress bar...but nothing, just black screen :(
after that, it crashed (i think, the screen simply disappeared).
I tried opening it again multiple times but nothing would happen....rebooting now to try again

Someone on the XDA forum said that it did not work on their hero :(
If our hero can't even handle angry birds there is no way it will be able to handle this lol.

it was worth a try...though now I am low on storage :( it uses 21 MB

it seems to work on the optimus...i may have to buy a refurb optimus T or get a Nexus S or Evo 3D when it's out :D

do you have the link?
it may work on some Rom...saw different comments from different phones in engadget

cleared data and was able to login again, got to the screen of playing and can see the progress bar...but just a black screen, no playing :(

Did anyone try editing the build.prop file to make the Netflix app think your handset is a T-Mobile HTC G2 yet? I did that with my B&N Nook Color and it works flawlessly.

I have not had a chance to mess with it on my Sprint HTC Hero yet though. I will let you know if I have success, but I hope to see others chiming in as well.

Here is how you edit the build.prop file by the way: How to Install Netflix on Almost Any Android Device . ;)

Try it out and see if it works. I am loving Netflix on my B&N Nook Color while lying in bed. :D

ya, i tried that and it didn't work.
I tried the disabled-check apk that came out a day later and that one worked on my unrooted archos 70, but nothing worked on the hero...someone at engadget suggested it could be the old processor

[offtopic] I could only get slingplayer to work using wifi, does your setup work over 3g? [/offtopic] :)

Netflix doesn't load a video for me either.

yes, it does. I tested it first with a computer outside my network...does it work on a device outside your network but not on your hero? (i assume the answer is yes, but just wondering...I went step by step)

edit: I just checked again, since I hadn't used it in a while....still working :P

So, the consensus is that Netflix will not work on the Sprint HTC Hero? Darn, that stinks. :(

I would probably agree that it is the older CPU preventing it from working or perhaps some lack of DRM usage with Netflix. It works great on my B&N Nook Color though and the 7 inch screen makes it worth it. :)

seems to be due to old cpu, since many devices with newer hardware, including the nook color and archos 70 are able to use netflix....and flash, etc

Yeah. It would have been nice to have Netflix in my pocket, but oh well.

When I get the Sprint HTC EVO 3D this summer, it will surely work. I can wait for pocket Netflix goodness until then.
