Ok so using the events that happened with the Evo 4g as sort of a timeline, I've come up with this educated, speculated guess as to the release date.

From what I can find, the Evo 4G ROM was leaked May 21st, a Friday.( this forum is the only source I can find, take note of the thread starter's post date:http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f74/evo-shipping-rom-leak-35223/)

Exactly two weeks later, on Friday June 4th, the Evo 4g was released.

Now let's take the Evo 3D.

The ROM was leaked May 16th ([LEAK] Shooter_Sprint_WWE_1.07.651.1 (EVO 3D) - xda-developers

Exactly two weeks later would be May 30th. The only problem (if you could consider it one) is that the 30th is a Monday. So pushing it to the following Friday would make it June 3rD!

I'm liking that deduction. Only wished that would make it so! :D My Pre is about to become a Post, so I'm REALLY anxious for some good news about this beast. Gotta get a new phone soon, or go to wife's old Curve 8330 :(, and I REALLY don't want to do that!

Lol. Pre/Post pun. Love it.

Last year I pre-ordered with the Shack. All went very well. But at that time, the release date was known. Maybe this means info will come about today. Wishful thinking.

For bestbuy and radioshack to basically have the same exact type of secret pre-order taking says that something is going on behind closed doors. Actually, I really don't know what it means but it seems like sprint is going in an unconventional direction trying build hype for this phone. Its like the more confusing this is getting the sooner I think this phone is actually going to get release. I was on a flight a few days ago and the 50yr old lady sitting next to me saw my evo and asked me how I liked it and I said I loved it. She said she has one as well and that she can't wait to get the evo 3d. So whatever sprint is doing it seems to be working as far as building interest for this phone, regardless they need to stop all this teasing and just tell us when its gonna come out.

That makes for pretty good speculation, except for the fact that the evo 4g release date was already announced by then. 3devo release date hasn't been announced.

Of course, but after all it's just speculation. If anything I'm just trying to use some type of logic to guess the date. Then again, that would mean Sprint would have to be using the same type of logic. (Good luck to that)

Anyway, more speculation:

I'm not sure if it's been said here, but it seems like Sprint's instant rebates coincide with the release of their smartphones.

Instant rebate was to end 4/16. 4/17 the Echo was released.

They extended it to 5/7. The next day, 5/8, the Nexus S was released.

Now they have it until 6/4. So hopefully a 6/5 release for the EVO 3D?

And of course I try to put the pieces together only to find it's been done already. Sprint Extending Instant Mail-In Rebate to 6/4 - BriefMobile

this so far is the best assumption / deduction... so far.
very interesting train of thought.

Not saying your friend is wrong, he actually might be right and I hope he is.

But...

I just find it very hard to believe this phone will launch in 3 weeks with no FCC clearing and really no buzz at all.

If we get something solid this week from FCC or something like that, then i would say OK June release is coming. Till then i am sticking with sometime late June or early July.
well actually last year the Htc Evo 4G never cleared the FCC, well at least not under Htc Evo 4G, they had it under other name!!

RadioShack started taking pre orders on the EVO 3D today (may 17th) drop a cool $50 dollars in a radio shack gift card sign your name on the wait list and patiently wait. They arent announcing the pre sale so you have to ask. Also the original theory of the EVO3D coming out for the anniversary of the EVO4G seems to be right on the money even tho no official release has been announced.

just my two cents why would you offer a release if the product is not going to be available in 3+months?

(Ps3 pre order was just a 2 month wait at the most)

Safety net. In case the first retailer doesn't follow through with holding the handset for the customer and not selling it first come first serve.
Exactly. Or if, for instance, Best Buy's shipment gets delayed. I can use my alternate pre-order. Whichever pre-order goes un-used I'll just use the $50 for a case or an accessory. ;)

When did the pre-orders start for EVO?

Anyone think Sprint/HTC maybe keeping things hush hush due to Apple? If I was HTC or Sprint, I wouldn't want Apple trying to place add on features to their phone which mimic the EVO 3D. We already know Apple filed for a 3D patent.

Well, if this is true, and not just more of the "sprint iPhone" trash that has been floating around for years. Sprint won't care if apple knows because they will win either way
