Help HTC Desire ::: How to use more Access Points?

denisdb

Lurker
Hello,

I'm using HTC Desire.

In my Access Point list (Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names), I'm having these two access points defined:

1. MMS (with APN Type parameter set as "mms")
2. Internet (with APN Type parameter set as "default")

The #1 is used automatically when sending/receiving MMS.

#2 is used for any other kind of internet access.

Now, I would like to add one more access point - also for browsing internet (let's call it #3).

So, my intention is to select the one between #2 and #3, according to what I currently need - simply by selecting radio button on the right side.

If I add one more internet access point (#3) - what should I type as APN Type parameter ?

Is it again "default"?

Pls help.

Thanks,
/Denis

It doesn't need to be anything. Keep your default as default. Then you can just select this new one when you need it. Leaving type blank will still give you a radio button. Only type MMS I think disables radio button.

Thanks a lot! Seems that it's working the way you've described.

However, I can notice that sometimes, all of the sudden, the phone tries to use access point, the one that's NOT currently selected (radio button). This seems as some kind of bug to me.

Is there some help for that ?

No idea on that one I am afraid. I just had an alternative apn set up for a quick test to test that what I told you was true and it seemed to work, but not tested for any length of time.

Hello,

I'm having three access points defined:

1 Used for MMS (APN Type set as 'mms')
2 Used for default internet browsing (APN Type set as 'default')
3 Used just occasionally (APN Type left blank)

(#2 and #3 have radio buttons for selecting)

Now, since I've added access point #3 (although access point #2 is selected all the time) it happens quite often (once per day let's say) that data traffic gets stuck!

In order to recover, I need to manually select #3, then select back to #2 and it works again!

This issue disappears if I completely remove #3 from access points list.

Please, is there anyone that's experiencing the same issue... ?

Thanks!
/Denis
