Release date: 6/24 nationwide; 6/21 for SP members.

Didn't Verizon allow pre-orders of the Thunderbolt before they announced a date (just like they're doing now with the 3D) and then when they finally announced the date it was like 2 or 3 days from that moment?

If so it's a possibility they could pull the same thing and drop it last minute. I'd be ok with that, I like a pleasant surprise.

Anything is possible. But, from what I remember hearing, the Thunderbolt was delayed from the originally announced release date due to issues with the LTE connectivity. I could be completely wrong, but that's what I remember reading.

Nope. The Thunderbolt didn't get a release date until near the end of the wait and then it released on that date.

Before that it was all speculation based on when Best Buy started taking pre-orders and when ads hit with what particular content - but in no time, when internet expectations were not hit, everyone started screaming it was late. This led to an environment where a charlatan or two started dropping bizarre hints about what last minute changes were going into the phone, followed by users posting like crazy in response to it all.

With a few mods trying to keep everyone from selling their young to gypsies and bed-wetting below tidal proportions whenever someone trolled that they had the answer.

All in all, the Evo 3D speculation is going swimmingly in that the volume of that is a bit lower, even if the specifics might ring a bell here. ;)

I see. So all of that was just internet chatter and rumors. Didn't know that, so thanks for clarifying EarlyMon.

So, anything is really possible with the 3dEvo release.

sorry if this has been posted, there are so many posts regarding release of the EVO 3D I cannot keep up with them all.

The BlockBuster app hints at June release.
BlockBuster app hints at HTC EVO 3D 2 June launch - Pocket-lint

Way good catch.

That one went under my radar, and I don't recall it being mentioned elsewhere. Plus, I find Pocket Lint to be a pretty decent blog overall.

BlackDynamite - thanks for the clarification that is was Google I/O where the 3vo was crashing and freezing. I mentioned that I was aware of that, but the events tend to run together sometimes and I couldn't recall which it was.

Personally, I doubt that's a Sense 3 issue - I've heard nothing of the Sensation being held back from release this month, and it's Sense 3. Plus, we heard none of that at previous events, so I'm guessing they are tinkering up to the last minute (what else is new with any of these guys?) but it's not necessarily something endemic to the 3D itself.

They released the 1.32.651.6 update for the Evo on launch day, then the famous 1.47 release on June 28th (proof). So, while I'm happy they fix things, I think we all agree that it would be better to ship stable stuff.

We had the Nexus S 4G go thru the FCC around Apr 10~12 (pick the blog to believe), then release less than a month later (sales on May 8).

So, there's precedent for rapid turnaround from FCC to market, holding the early June date, courtesy of that Blockbuster find, as reality. (And that's assuming that we'll even get the FCC leak in Blogsville.)

Or - did plans change and while the Blockbuster thing put it at early June, that was then, this was now, and things have changed since then?

Can't wait to find out.

But this is certain in my mind - only real geniuses would pick 6/2 over June 3rd for a release date - making 6/2 hilariously likely.

I had mentioned the NASCAR thing a few pages back, but haven't seen anything reported. I'm not a NASCAR fan, so I haven't been paying attention.

I think I remembered that but I guess the nascar thing didn't sink in until today when some people(including myself) got that email from sprint with the subject "Meet our new 3D,4G all-star smartphone" and in the email body it was all nascar stuff.

After reading all these ideas about why it should come out on such and such date, I think Sprint should always consult us for ideas regarding marketing strategies and release tips. The ideas you all have come up with for an EVO 3D release date astound me, because they make sense, but I would never have thought of them. (This isn't sarcasm. I'm being serious here.)

Really though, with all the information you've put out there, especially the Blockbuster app hint, I feel that Sprint and HTC are just keeping wraps on this thing till it's about to hit. I feel it's very likely this forum will explode in the next month, for we all will have the EVO 3D in our hands.

TL;DR You guys are smart, thank you.

Wow, didn't realize an email went out with that. That's cool.

Hoof - Screen Shot of e-mail is on XDA...>Confirm it Says ROUGH Release Date.

Earlymon - removing relevant posts referring to Kittens are we?
tough room.

Lol, the launch date had to be set months ago, and would have to committed to last month.

From the time of finished production to arrival at stores takes about 4 weeks. If they wanted to hit the june 2 mark, they would have already shipped the phones to the warehouses.

As for the date, it is sprint, they will find the only way to shoot themselves in the face, they will.

Only sprint will announce a phone and then wait for months before they launch it. Given that they might not have a chance to shoot themselves in the face with apple announcement, I would look for the next major and overwhelming product being released in june and that will be the time they release the evo 3d.

Why? Because if sprint did not go out of its way to sabotage a phone release, it would actually be 1st in both product sells and carrier.

So given that, and looking at the phones that are coming to market in the next few week, I am going to go with june 3rd.

But here is why

HTC sensation 4g -june 8 rumor
Samsung galaxy tab -june 8 rumor
Samsung exhibit 4g- june 8 rumor
Samsung Gravity Touch -june 8 rumor

HTC evo 4g was release on june 4th.

Given that there is more then enough phone being released to commit sucide on, June 3rd, Friday it will be released. As for ads, dont expect much.
