Sorry man, but those are facts. And they all point to the forming of my opinion: the Evo 3D will NOT sell as well as the Evo 4G did.

Like I said, if you have a "gut feeling" about something, and someone else has an opinion based on a bunch of facts, it may be true that they are both opinions, but they are certainly not equal.

I don't disagree with you about it not outselling the 4g in the slightest, but the facts you pointed out are just complimentary to your opinion, not the other way around. Opinions are all equal my friend, that's why theyre opinions and not fact.

Actually, now that I think about it, I think it's your opinion that those two opinions are not equal.

No one knows the future. Any of you could be right or wrong, but the point I'd add for the sake of thread-sanity: haven't any of you found that you've turned out right - but for entirely the wrong reasons than you thought? Or, turned out your predictions were right, but not for the reasons you thought?

In general, analysis tops _unfounded_ opinion. However, once it crosses over into opinion, it's just that.

I know chicks who do incredibly well at fantasy football going by horoscopes, team colors and how a quarterback's hair looked in the last ET! show and beat a lot of guys.

Speaking of beating, the superior opinion horse is kinda dead, I killed it.

The Droid series, the iPhone, the palm pre, black berry storm (shudder), hell even the epic was around for 11 out of the first 12 months and it was (technically) superior to the evo...just cuz all us nerds on here knew that the evo was better didn't mean the general public did.

Now stop taunting me, the mods now know my weakness with fantasy football and i fear retribution if we continue acting like children!

I do agree with that completely. I think it will still sell, but not quite at the level that the original EVO did.

Only thing I'm more skeptical about is how much time is put in to the "locked bootloader" issue. Since it's a common thing across many different providers, not just Sprint, you would think that Sprint would take this opportunity to REALLY do something that separates themselves from everybody else. One good way to do that would be to change the protocol with the manufacturers for phones released on Sprint where there isn't a locked bootloader. Now that, I can see as a great business strategy for sure.

No offense man, but none of those phones were even close to as good as the Evo, let alone better. Remember the Evo had the big screen, snapdragon, lots of RAM, 8 MP cam, front camera, and kickstand. In what way were any of those phones as good or better than the Evo when the Evo was released? The only one even close is the iPhone, and it was not released at the time and isn't as good anyway.

BTW, I hear you guys on the fantasy football, lol. It seems that every year there is a girl or 2 that has no idea about football but is killing everyone.

That would be great, but I'd rather have root/custom rom ability if it's the choice between the two. That way, I really get both options, since I can remove the bloat through rooting or loading a new ROM.

Good point, I myself don't root but still want nova the hell off my phone. No carrier should force you to have a game on your phone, thats just ridiculous...

I agree the Evo 3D is the best phone, but I don't think it's anywhere near as far ahead as the Evo 4G was. For example, if the Atrix had 3D, I'd probably get that instead.

The Nexus S, Photon, and Samsung Galaxy S 2 can all make a case for being better than the Evo 3D (depending on which features you value more.) I put more value on the 3D cameras, so I think the Evo 3D is the best.


By the way, if Sense is a high value to you, you should really try SPB Shell 3D. It's $15 in the market, but it has all of the features of the new Sense plus a lot more. SPB is where HTC ripped off all the ideas for Sense. SPB Mobile Shell was doing all that back in the WinMo days, long before Sense. Plus, you can take your interface to whatever phone you want. So I can actually consider the Atrix without the interface being in the comparison, because I will have the same interface no matter what phone I choose.

That's kind of what I was thinking... I mean the Evo3D is a very nice phone, but it's not heads and tails above it's competition like the Evo4G was. The Evo3D is going to have to work to remain competitive with phones like the Photon & SGSII coming out.

Well they're still not putting front facing cameras on every smartphone. They're definitely not putting dual core in most smartphones. 3D, yeah whatever lol. The stock unlock screens are far superior than most everything out there. The UI in general is definitely the best IMO. Flip to silence, map caching, the new way of answering calls while using turn by turn nav. A big deal for me is the hdmi/micro-usb in one tech. I forget the abbreviation/name of it, but it's badass. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things but as far as I'm concerned there aren't many other options for top of the line Android phones. This may be just my preference though.

I'm just saying that they won't invest a lot of time into appeasing a small group if the majority is still buying the device. IOW, they won't stop Sprint Business just to focus on appeasing a handful of people. Of course, any lost sale is not wanted, but question really is how much time they put into fixing it and is it worth it in the big picture, as far as they're concerned.

Locked bootloaders are happening all over the place, not just Sprint, so do YOU really think that's going to be their main priority?

Android will move toward a more secure, less fragmented environment. It has to if Google wants to remain competitive and avoid getting kicked in the groin by Microsoft and Apple.

The days of bootleg roms with broken bluetooth and cameras is coming to an end. In return we'll get more cloud services, more multimedia services, and more high profile apps designed outside of mommy's basement.

Google and it's android partners are doing the right thing. 2012 could be a tough year for android. WP7 with Mango is incredibly well featured and refined.

Then there is Microsoft/Nokia...

Dead Symbian/Nokia, with no app support sold 461,318,000 phones last year; more than Samsung, Apple, HTC, and Blackberry combined. That's a 29% global market share. This was a bad year for Nokia. HTC would love to have a bad year with that many units sold.

If Mircosoft/Nokia does a modest 20% of what it did last year, that is 92,263,600 WP7 phones sold globally, not including WP7 phones sold by LG, HTC, and Samsung, without relying on low end crap devices that run android like an Atari 2600. There is no such thing as a low end WP7 device so there is no padding sales numbers like android.

Google has a good reason for tightening the reins.

I've tested this myself, and seen the results with my own eyes. yea, the ability for higher speeds is with WiMax, but what good is it if its not put to use, or that i cannot use it indoors?!?!

If i don't hear anything bout the EVO3D release date soon, i hear the HTC sensation is coming out on June 5th. Even though i like the 3d on the EVO3D, I'll gladly get the Sensation with the faster data

I wondered about this myself. On top of the fact that I hate that going inside means i lose almost half the strength of my 4g, if Sprint switches to lte, I'm gonna need another Damned phone!

It's great right up until they throttle you down to sub-dial up speeds because you reached your cap, or you try playing Black Op's and your ping is 300ms.

T-Mobile's execution was brilliant however. In many ways HSPA+ seems to make a lot more sense than Wimax or LTE at this stage.

FWIW, all of the T-mobile "4G" phones I've ran speed tests on were between 1.5-4mb, while the Evo's I've tested normally clock in between 5-11mb
