3dEvo: Pre-release miscellany

No, it's just that you are maturing.

Ah, sweet spring, where sight of a 3vo takes the blush off trophy babes. After all, you'll never forget your first 3vo.

Ha, Fair enough...

Im not trying to say shes ugly by any means...But living in san diego you see women on a daily bases that put her to shame...

Maybe im just jaded by that fact. Ahh well, C'est La Vie

Don't rub it in, I live in New England. Just got to see ankle's on the women around here for the first time in 8 months. And that was in Capri Pants, high-waters for women. I'll never understand why they are so popular up here.

I bet $20 it won't be announced during NASCAR. If Sprint runs commercials on ABC, the date for the phone will announce during the NBA Finals because waaay more people view basketball more than NASCAR.

That is arguable and I'm an ex-Nascar fan that ditched it when it became so mainstream. What other sport can cram 100,000 people into the average venue every weekend?

Of course, there are statistics that can back up any argument. Pro Football Continues Popularity Among U.S. Sports Fans - SportsBusiness Daily | SportsBusiness Journal

On topic though, I desperately hope you're right!

This was your same argument earlier... the fact of the matter is that Sprint is the primary sponsor of NASCAR. From a business standpoint, they already clearly feel as though the number of eyes that view NASCAR on a regular basis is worth the however many millions of dollars they pay annually to be the primary sponsor. So regardless of the "most watched sports" stat, it wouldnt change the minds of Sprint corporate to make a large announcement such as a release date during the pre race show. And besides, the blogosphere will pick up on it immediately and the information will be distributed just the same as if it were announced in the middle of a NBA playoff game.

Plus, you wouldnt announce a major release date through a commercial... people just fast forward through those anyway :)

Im really hoping we have some good news before the green flag gets waved tonight! Hooray new phone!

As do I JunBringer, but more than anything, more than having it sooner, I just want to know WHEN I can have it, even if it's a decent amount of time off still...at least then I can plan accordingly and weight options.

It's not as if announcing the phone during a 'smaller' event would preclude following up with advertisement during a larger event. I'm sure the ads will run more than once and on multiple days.

By what statistics do you say that? Even though I really don't like NASCAR at all, it is much more popular than many people think. It does very well in the nielson's and live gate revenue.

Sprint decided to sponsor NASCAR years ago. Once that contract ends, I assure you it will not be renewed. Contracts change and Sprint doesn't need NASCAR. I would love to see how many people who watch NASCAR actually have a contract with and own a smartphone. From reading this thread more people refuse to watch NASCAR simply for the release date of the EVO 3D. That should speak volumes.

For some reason the thread won't let me edit my post. Anyway, I was trying to ask how many people that watch NASCAR and attend the races actually have a contract with Sprint, let alone a smartphonefrom Sprint. I'm sure they have iPhones.....LOL

Sprint, and formerly Nextel, have been sponsoring NASCAR for over a decade. I dont know how long their contract is with NASCAR but Im willing to bet they make a big pile of money being the sole primary sponsor on every single event. As CanDman mentioned, there are probably a lot of people in the stands that hold a smart phone to get up to the second updates on their favorite drivers.

The point of making an announcement regarding a smart phone at a NASCAR event is moot. Its the fact that they are making an announcement about their future flagship phone which is important.

This argument has already gotten off topic enough so I wont bother with any further responses. To me, it seems like a logical business move. Where else would you announce your new flagship phone if it werent at the largest NASCAR race, where you were the primary sponsor, of the year?!

I dont think it speaks volumes at all. NASCAR has been one of the most watched spectator sports for a very long time, fighting only the NFL for the number 1 spot. Basing the number of people that watch NASCAR from a forum such as this is not indicative of a national sample. The fact of the matter is, NASCAR provides Sprint with tremendous exposure.

This explains why Sprint hasn't been profitable in quite awhile. And Sprint didn't acquire the contract with NASCAR until 2005 and as a result of acquiring Nextel. So Sprint hasn't been in the game for a decade.

I've been to a NASCAR race and I have attended NBA games and the All Star event some years ago. I will take b-ball anyday. You can't watch an NBA game on TNT and not think about T-mobile.

Anway, this thread is about the release date of the 3D. I'm just saying when the release date isn't announced via a NASCAR event, I don't want to hear well it would have made more sense.

I think you need to relax. Most people in this forum don't watch or care about NASCAR. It's like people not caring to watch basketball. But the NBA finals still outranks NASCAR in tv viewership....LOL.

My point was nobody from the forum is tunning into NASCAR to watch just for the release date information. And we are talking all time viewership here. 9 years is great but its not all time stats. What about the Fall months? Easy to pull stats to support an agenda, but the NFL and NBA kills NASCAR in terms of viewership, product sales, and fan base.

This is the key. All the obnoxious hee haws that were using that annoying push to talk BS watch Nascar, so this is why Sprint is a sponsor. I dunno if they'll renew or not, but that was why.

This is funny. I can't believe this thread has gotten this big filled with a bunch of rumors and "this rep said this" "my store said" "the rep hinted at" "best buy guy said" lol I'll check back when there's an actual release date. Until then this phone is dead to me.

There was a leak this morning of google and HTC working on the next Nexus to come out late this year. i actually thank sprint for taking so long to release this because that might be the phone i go for.

I hope they use HTC for the new Nexus. I heard LG a bit ago i think.

Found on another forum available week 4 of June according to this Sprint doc.

Edit: Looks like it could be week 4 of the playbook not June

I'm curious if anyone else can try this but, there's a web address on the top of that document labeled "indirect.sprint.com", it won't open for me maybe someone else could try and see what kind of website that might be. Just spit balling here lol.
