unrooting the Nexus One: Is it possible?

A friend once asked me the same thing about a girl. I told him I didn't think so.

Thanks. Right now it has the unlocked lock on the bootup screen which apparently can't be taken off. This was part of HTC and Google's agreement.

Google told HTC, Hey, I want people to be able to root this device to use it to its full extents Then HTC said, Okay, but we're going to get lots of returns and lose money because of everyone bricking their phone Then google said, Okay. We'll make sure on the unlock boot screen that is says it is voiding the warranty; plus, we will have a watermark to show that it was rooted.

I'm assuming that it was a physical fuse so that it could not be undone.

Apparently because of a rumored physical fuse that makes it that way no matter what you do. It was part of the HTC GOOGLE agreement. If Google was going to allow easy access rooting, HTC would not lose any money to it.

I have no clue what you mean with that sentence. :p
But, if I'm right, we aren't complaining. Just trying to find and answer. :)
 
It just sounded like a veiled slight at either Google or HTC. If I read that wrong, I apologize.
 
I'm not mad at them -- just stating the facts, and trying to find a solution. And if I was "complaining" about this, I think it would be acceptable.
 
Can we please stop this. This wasn't meant to start a fight. I feel like every time someone posts something, someone goes down their through. Let's get back on topic.
 
You're right and I recognize my contribution to that. I've just long ago grown tired of the sense of entitlement that many consumers have. Not to say that's you or that reasonable dialogue about a product's shortcomings is wrong though.

Oh my God! This thread is ruined with this spam. To be honest, I could care less about what you think. You obviously aren't as tech savvy as most of us. I want to know if you would be able to unroot the Nexus One, but apparently, someone like you needs to feel like they have power and post useless junk. "I've just long ago grown tired" of people thinking that they know stuff and posting it. Fair?!

No, you obviously cannot unroot the N1. If I gave a crap about how much of a bummer this is for someone looking to back their way out of screwing up their phone, I might commiserate. I wont though, so grow a sack like the rest of the hacker community and root it. Or don't.
 
I found the best way to deal with children like you is to just move on. I thank you for stating the obvious and looking like an idiot. Tell me how preschool is tomorrow ;).
 
This thread has just decended into a pointless argument. I am going to close it before it starts getting out of hand and infractions need issuing
