Root How do you upgrade from 2.2 to 2.2.1?

Hello, I am having a problem with upgrading my LG optimus M from 2.2 to 2.2.1. I downloaded the LG update tool, but every time I run it it fails for some reason. I want to upgrade to get the CM7 rom onto my phone, can someone please help me?
 
You dont need to update. Just root with z4root, install custom recovery for 2.2 and install cm7. lol

Really I dont'? This is for Cmod7 beta right? and I have tried flashing the rom, but it didn't work either that's why I thought it had something to do with the version. Thanks for your response

Nope, just flash the rom, if you use LG update tool, you'll go through hell rooting again :P

unfortunatly your not the first to try updating to 2.2.1 i belive at the moment the 2.2.1 update is not avalible for 2.2 users all you can do is try each day, a alternet way is to go to the 2.2.1 rooting guide in this forum and use the files they provide to do so. i have done it to unbrick a friends phone, suprized me its now 2.2.1 instead of 2.2

Just go into custom recovery and flash sense or cm7. If you're rooted

care to link those instructions??? i can find instructions for 2.2.1, but not 2.2. this might be the issue i'm having with this particular optimus m.

i've rooted with gingerbreak v1.20, and when i utilize android terminal emulator i can't get the flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-optm-2.2.1-GNM.img command to happen. the version does show 2.2 and not 2.2.1.

i'd even be happy to get 2.2.1 on there so i can follow the sticky by blaxican25 for 2.2.1 phones. it may be easier to do 2.2 than 2.2.1, but not if there aren't instructions like there is for 2.2.1. at least i can't find them and the 2.2 recovery.

The recovery version is 2.2.1. It doesn't mean you have to have froyo 2.2.1 on your phone.

i can't get it to load on a 2.2. i'm trying blaxican25's easiest root guide at the moment. taking forever, ha ha. if it works i'll be happy. after that i am going to do a stock 2.2.1 which looks way easier/quicker.

I'm on 2.2 and have the new recovery.
 
i went through holy hell to get that recovery on that 2.2. blaxican25 even had to help me. unless that particular device itself just was giving it a hard time or something... idk.
