What DON'T you like about Gingerbread

When watching a video my home keys stays lit up the hole time and I can't get them to go off. And the typing is very slow on everything and I already had to do a factory restore!

I read that adding "ro.com.motorola.smartsensor=true" to /system/build.prop will make the lights time out after a while. I tried it but it didn't do anything for me.

Warning
By selecting "Standalone GPS Services", you are ...
Every single time? Really??? Elixir and Quick Settings toggles don't work any more.

Hard key LED randomness. Either obnoxiously bright, or off. No apparent reason why. No connection to ambient light or time of day.

Display autobrightness randomness. No apparent reason for why it's choosing to be really dim or bright, or why it suddenly decides to change when scrolling to the next home screen.

Calendar event alerts sometimes work, sometimes don't appear until screen unlock.

Sometimes turns on speaker phone mode when removing from car dock.

Worse music streaming performance on both wifi and 3G in Pandora, Slacker and Xiia. Going from wifi to 3G kills Xiia connection completely, just sticks in attempt reconnect/fail loop. Pandora app has sucked for the last 3 updates so GB isn't totally to blame there, but I had hoped for an improvement and it got a little worse instead.

New keyboard is more prone to fat fingering.

Battery usage stats are whacked. Wherever those numbers are coming from, they aren't right. Don't make any sense.

All of these complaints are totally outweighed by the performance gains. Much faster in every way. The difference is very noticeable and appreciated. The occasional long lag where Froyo would stop and think for about 10 seconds hasn't happened once in GB.

Best of all, I had a really irritating bug under Froyo where about twice a week my phone would crash and reboot itself when trying to make or receive a call. Gone. Hasn't happened once in GB.

The only problem that I am seeing with the DROID X Gingerbread update is that my battery doesn't last as long as it use to before the update. Has anyone else has this issue?

Hawaii Boy....

Don't like:

Battery life less than on ApeX 1.4.0 (gonna let it settle down a few days before I really start fussing)
White/grey backgrounds (as in Settings, Battery use, etc) Prob. one reason for poorer battery life!
Really HATE the BRIGHT backlights for the menu buttons! HATE IT!
Notification WiFi and Signal strength will go from GB blue to grey occasionally, till a reboot.
Contacts app is just the Contacts tab of Dialer (not full screen contacts!)
Wireless Tether has FC, and I can't uninstall it (nevermind, TBU got it), but WiFi Tether works

Likes:
The new notification screen (of course)
Quick upload is back in gallery (I missed it during FroYo)
GB Gallery better than FroYo, it seems more stable
Camera app seems to take better photos (I've never loved the DX camera)
The new Running services screen (less the white/grey background)

My X just updated yesterday. I use Launcher Pro Plus v0.8.6:

* Hate: can't even type on the keyboard anymore. Ridicules.

* Hate: Baby Blue pass screen; Baby Blue pop-ups; etc - what are they thinking?

* Flaw: Can't dial direct from "Google voice search" - ie; find restaurant and dial from the results.

* Like: Notification bar, the dark colors look classier to me (I like darker backgrounds); the ability to clear individual notifications (after pulling down the the bar) was much needed.

* Like: For my phone, it runs much smoother and transitions screens better (again, LP). Less choppy

* Like: My X would actual shut of and restart itself for no reason (Dump I guess) - so far, not.

* Like: Sorry guys, I like the "saw blade".

* Like: Animation when turning portrait to landscape, screens.

* Like: addition of "sleep mode" on shut down menu

Old issues / others brought up:

* Auto Brightness adjust: never worked right before the update in my opinion, so I do it manually (widget).

* Car Dock: Still hate the "Car Dock Screen" - just give me my home screen and leave me alone.

* Camera Resolution: defaults to widescreen when you restart the phone - Once I set it on 8MP and regardless how I start the program (icon or external button) comes on at 8 MP, as long as I don't restart the phone.

* Can still use as a Bluetooth Network Access point (just waiting for this to get locked).

For me, this update is three - four stars. Besides the couple new annoyances (the original had some too), I'll keep it. Certainly there will be another update will follow soon.

I can no longer select a phone number out of an emailed list and have it be ready instantly to dial that number. This is annoying as I kept several e-mailed lists of phone numbers that I prefer not to store in contacts. Ease of use here was a great feature and it's now gone.

EDIT: Just sorted the above with shutdown and battery out restart.

Also... A very ANNOYING appearance issue......
All lists in the phone such as apps menus, email folders, messages, etc.....
are now all dark print on a white or grey background. Just an opinion but I hate this.

It should at least give us the option of having a black background with white letters like it was before and it also uses less battery with a black background. VZW techs have told me it cannot be changed back.

This color scheme is throughout the entire system. Instead of having the look of a serious piece of hardcore hardware.... it now has the look of a Kindle and I don't like it one bit!

Edit: I spoke with Verizon and Motorola about this and it seems there is nothing I can do about it.

1. HUGE PROBLEM. Data connection just simply stops working on WiFi after random periods of use. I have to turn it off and on again repeatedly to continue browsing, getting data.

2. Frequent redraws of the homescreens using Launcher Pro.

3. The camera defaulting to widescreen. (Note: Widescreen is just cutting off the top and bottom of the standard aspect ratio). Give me all my damn pixels!

4. Battery is definitely not better. It seems to be the same if not worse.

5. The elastic scrolling limiter animation (what happens when you scroll to top or bottom of a list) is stupid. It used to be just fine and more intuitive.

6. My notification window widgets from Widgetsoid are now jacked up. Instead of just hitting the widget, it now pops up a SECOND popup widget and I have to hit the widget again. Annoying.

7. The black text on white settings menus. I prefer the inverse. Minor.

8. Things do not feel speedier. In fact, many things feel slower.

9. The color scheme overall is not that great. I like not having a white notification bar, though.

10. Hard button lights. Their behavior is not the same, more erratic, and way brighter. I downloaded AdjBrightness app to turn them off completely.

11. The weird bacon shaped icon that tells me my phone is on vibrate. Minor.

12. LED behavior. You tell me.

Things I DO like:

1. The dialer is nicer.

2. The text edit cursor is easier to move around.

3. The unnecessary AM and PM are removed from the notification bar.

Gingerbread is a big step back for me. I may go back to Froyo, or wait and see if some custom GB ROMs can fix these problems.

Does anyone have a solution for these BRIGHT ASS LIGHTS on non-rooted phones. I can't watch video on my phone anymore cause they annoy the hell out of me... GD GB

It is perplexing to me that more people aren't complaining of data issues.

I really don't have any other major issues which leads me to believe my update went according to Big Reds plan but my data connectivity has really suffered since the undated.

On Speedtest, both the quality of the signal and the data thru-put has decreased from where they were prior to the update. It also seems very erratic sometimes much better than others but never up to where it was prior to the update.

I'm stock, unrooted, did the OTA on 6/1, and did several battery pulls after that.

I need my data to improve dramatically.

Been through all the leaks and now on .596 rooted deodexed

Still no bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 it would be nice to see the artist info on the stereo. Maybe someone will include this in a rom if possible.

Other than that Im happy. Longer battery life, smoother, faster.

Check out Imoseyon tweaks seemed to increase my battery life on all versions of Gingerbread.

Can anyone verify that there are problems (or not) importing Exchange certificates? IE Exchange basically doesn't work now.

1) Camera defaulting to widescreen 5MP resolution. This happens in between uses - I don't even have to restart the phone for this to reset.

2) In the map, the compass function is backward on east-west orientation. North-south is fine, but this is very irritating.

I am happy with most of the Gingerbread updates and hoped it would make the phone more appealing to me. Unfortunately, it hasn't. It's just irritating for different reasons now.

Just tried again, and it doesn't pull the number into the dialer. I have to long click, copy, click the number to open dialer, then paste into the empty box. Strange :-\

EDIT: OK...a battery pull solved it for me.

This was second battery pull since install early Thursday morning. This one fixed the phone number issue.

Battery life seems better for me.

Yahoo email still not fetching automaticly.

LED's only seem to work for gmail and txt.

No adding birthday/annaversery info in phone book and no way to edit those that existed prior to update (all except one are now useless babble of numbers).

Stock music player and Pandora work fine.

Camera defaults to WS.

Constant "sync" icon in status bar (ANNOYING!)

No problem viewing stock gallery.

When I read mail in gmail, it doesnt update as read on the web browser version. This worked fine in froyo...

Whats up with the blue facebook screen? Its super annoying because its white when scrolling, but blue when you're not scrolling. cant they make up their minds?

I still have lock screen lag. why haven't they fixed this yet? this is the third major update to this phone and still no fix.

:/

A classic example of......

You can please all the people some of the time,
Some of the people all the time,
But you can't please all the people all the time.

This is annoying me as well.

I too had this occur after the GB update. I resolved it by removing my Yahoo account, then re-installed the Yahoo account. The only thing I had to do is input my user name and password info. After that it was back to auto updating, fetching and showing new mail on the notification bar.

This is my biggest problem. I constantly have to turn wifi on and off again to reestablish data connection sporadically. I'm giving it a few more days than I'm trying a new ROM

Soooo... I used a permanent maker to darken my hard key light. That didn't do anything to help the annoying on/off when the phone isn't moving and in the same light. Sometimes in total darkness those key lights don't even come on! (yayyyy)

Now I have black tape covering the hard keys, Motorola should be proud. Whoever wrote the code for this and the supervisor that approved it should be whipped with a wet noodle.

Root here I come.
