3dEvo: Pre-release miscellany

If things are shipped on the 21st, chances are people will get them on the 22nd since overnight has been something we've seen a lot of times from Sprint.

I have not been lucky to see overnight. They have always done 2 to 5 business days (almost always in 2 days) with no Saturday delivery in my case. I have been with them for 7 years and Nextel for a few years before that. I ordered the Mogul, Touch Pro, Touch Pro2 and the Evo online as soon as they were accepting orders (The Mogul and Touch Pro I did by phone) and each instance took 2 days minimum. In the Evo case I ordered it Thursday Night June 3rd and got it first thing Monday morning which is 2 business days. I really think it depends on where you live but I know for a fact I won't see my 3d before the 23rd.

OK guys, got my evo 4g to play around with until the 24th (to lock into the $125 credit promotion) I can verify that I was told that new customers will not have to pay the restocking fee for a return within the 30 days. I also preordered the 3D so I'm sure to get it before the 30 days is up.

With my activation fee waived for being a AAA member, my restocking fee waived for being a new customer, and the $125 port-in credit. I will essentially able to enjoy this evo for a few more weeks (until I pick up a shiny new 3D) for a very small fee. Just wanted to thank all that contribute to these forums, specifically this thread in particular for all of their fantastic advice. Tonight, I drink to all of you.

Congrats! And to think, you're playing around with a phone that is still a relatively fast phone...and in a couple weeks your swap will give you a faster phone. BOTH on Gingerbread too. That's a good deal, especially with that port-in credit.

Oh man I gotta try to get this for the 3vo!

I should have mentioned this, I was told that the AAA gets me 10% off of my monthly bills. I cant verify this 100% because I havent gotten my first real statement yet but thats what I was told. It was very good news because being a grad student, I tend to miss out on all of the "work discounts" so many others are able to take advantage of.

I have bought many phones from Sprint.com. I would say 95% of the time they were shipped to me overnight. I think it depends where you live and if you order the phone early enough to make the same day shipping.

yea, you will get the discount on your monthly bill. :) I would call and double check that it has been added to your account, these things can occasional get lost in cyberspace. Also, sometimes the discounts take a billing cycle or two before they start to show up.

Same here. Although they say delivery may take 2 to 5 days... Every time (so far) my phones have been overnighted for free from Sprint.

My guess is that Sprint will ship so it will reach their customers on the 24th.

This actually peaked my interest a bit and I'm actually thinking of becoming an AAA member now. I did some digging and found this.

AAA discount

Can anyone confirm that when you are an AAA member you get 10% off your monthly bill when you have a family everything data plan?

If this is the case I'll gladly pay $52 to save 10% off my monthly bill since I'll be re-upping my contract to purchase the Evo 3D anyway.

I'm also wondering if anyone thinks that the $50 online purchase discount would also apply to purchasing the Evo 3D online on the 21st.

Edit: Looks like BenChase7 answered part of my question above.

I already get 18% from my job, so I don't think they'll do the AAA on top of that will they?

no, you cant stack discounts. 18% is a nice discount... i get 23% (or maybe its 25, cant remember right now) for working part time at HomeDepot. Discounts like these make it a hell of a deal.

ps. I do not know if this is true, but but a friend of mine said she gets 25% off just for banking at Wells. In fact, she opened the account just for this discount. But i have heard others say you have to be an actual Wells employee. not sure what to believe. Regardless, there are some great discounts available. Seems like Sprint has a discount for just about anything.

Where?? If I get to play w/ it, I'd make sure I have a few "free moments" in the next couple of days lol.
Sprint has a booth at E3. So do the other carriers. T-Mobile has a freaking diner where they serve you free food and give you minor bits of swag.

Question. I am an AAA member, what is the Sprint discount on that? I'm also a member of a credit union that would give me 10% off my monthly bill as well as wave the activation fee. So I'm just trying to figure out what the best deal would be.

I think they're both 10%. Again, you can double check here: http://androidforums.com/sprint/81670-do-i-qualify-discount.html

AAA is 10% I think. Check your employer, they often give you discounts as well. I get 20% off from my employer with Sprint and 25% with AT&T.

I bank at Wachovia, which is now owned by Wells Fargo. Maybe I can get 25%! :)

if you are a new customer... then you there will be no extra charges ... just pay the difference...because you have 30 day to cancel with no chargers (other than usage).

if you are an existing customer... you have a $35 restock to pay.

Some 3rd party Sprint corp stores are not held to that policy. Here in my home town, they don't have it as such I found out, but some do.

I'm pretty sure that's going to be for employees of Wells. With that said I haven't worked for Sears for 6 years, but I still get my Sears' employee discount. For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure there was no verification process when I initially requested the discount. If you google I'm sure you can find lots of info on employee discounts over the interweb. Keep in mind starting an employee discount on Sprint will reboot your contract.

LOL, former sears employee as well and I still get my 25% of my monthly bill. When I first requested that discount, along with basic type questions they wanted my supervisor's info as well so they can actually verify my employment. Me and my supervisor at the time are very close friends and I don't ever think sprint called to verify anything but I did have a corporate email account so I don't know if that made a difference. Anyway, I worked for sears for a while and my discount with sprint is about the only good thing that came out of working for them.

discounts....

do a search on here and on xda... there are sprint employees that give out their employee ## so that you can use to get a discount.. employe referal program.

it is a good deal.. i dont remember the details. maybe a sprint employee would chime in and help you guys out.
