Wirefly Review

Note that he did say that when he used the device outside the screen was rather difficult to see; good enough to frame his video but I wonder if he would be able to easily read text on the screen outdoors ?

If the screen is anything like the EVO 4G, there won't be any problems using it outdoors. The brightness will auto adjust. I use my EVO 4G outside all of the time without a problem. Even with polarized glasses on I can see it no problem.

YouTube - Watch 3D Videos on YouTube

Random fact: After selecting for "No 3D device," you can set Youtube 3D for cross-eye (default), parallel, and others. I'm pretty sure the version here is parallel instead of cross-eye, as the cross-eye would likely not work with the parallax barrier 3D in the Evo.

Thanks for showing me. I always just selected Side-by-Side, so I didn't realize there was a default to cross-eyed. You learn something new every day. :) Anyway, I can't do the cross-eyed technique at all. It hurts if I even try. I just relax my eyes until the image lines up and then try to focus on a certain part. This is how you do those magic eyes too, so I think anyone comfortable with magic eyes will be more comfortable with the parallel viewing.

Interesting side note: If you relax too far an a magic eye illusion, you can find another point where things line up again usually, but it's kind of distorted looking. I thought it was neat though :)

Obviously the screen is different than the evo 4g as it is a different panel; question is remain unknown with regards to max brightness, contrast, viewing angle and so forth.

So what you state might be true but doesnt' really help to move the known forward.

This is really detailed and quite good. I always like Brandon's reviews. Sense 3.0 looks very well thought out with a good interface. Esp like the mail program. I recently tried K9 and it just didnt' do it for me.

Hope this is ok to post here... it's a review of the software on the sensation. It's basically just reviewing Sense 3.0 on a qHD device a la the E3D. Mods, please delete/move this post if you feel it's out of place.

HTC Sensation Software Review (Video)

Yeah, Brandon really does a good job of reviewing stuff... he's positive with his reviews without being an annoying cheerleader type who's afraid to point out obvious flaws (like some of the overdone animations and audio affects in sense 3.0). That video really makes me think that a qHD screen on a dual core device is the gotta-have-it thing for my next phone.

On the wirefly video, it didn't look like there was much of that jelly effect in the video that is so common with rolling shutter cameras. Good to see. I do wish he would have put a little more real world info into his battery comments. I guess I'll just have to wait for some full reviews.

The E3D is looking really good...

Is there any concern about the Quadrant score? I see that some other phones have scores higher than that.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've known quadrant to be all over the place at cetain points, plus the E3D is sporting a higher res display than most phones. If it makes you feel better, the iPhone 4 scored lower than the 3gs for this same reason.

Definitely not about quadrant which is mostly math. I have a few concerns about some of the other benchmarks in part because during some of the videos there are brief delays in dealing with complex graphics. However, to be honest while not silky smoth these delays are mostly cosmetic.

From the box:

"This Sprint device...has a software programming lock that, in part, protects many of the device's features and functions against tampering and unauthorized programming."

Hm. Also, no headset or case (or HDMI cable), though there is an 8GB microSDHC card. I wonder what happened to the industry since the HD2, which came with a really slick rubber case, headset (with microphone and audio controls), 16GB microSDHC, and so on by default in-box. Argh.
