Help I want a comma key!

shockeroo

Newbie
I'm very very tempted by the Galaxy S 2 but I've played with one in a shop and there was no comma key on the keyboard, forcing me to go into a submenu every time I want a comma. I've since checked out the Techradar review which says that the comma has been replaced by the voice input key and there's no way to change it on this handset.

Is there ANY way I can change things so I have a comma key, preferably in place of the voice input button? This is a total deal-breaker for me, I type on my phones so much I can't imagine living without a comma.

Just get one of the many keyboards available in the market.

get a keyboard replacement.. or use swype, which comes preinstalled. i actually laughed when i first heard how swype works. it sounded dumb.. now i cant imagine typing without it. its amazing n super fast to use.. give it a shot, it takes a day to get used to n u'd love it after that. n yes, it has a comma key

I'm quite confident there wasn't one on the phone I was shown because I asked the assistant about it... but perhaps we're both going blind.

I'd still like to know if I can swype on BetterKeyboard or other market keyboard.

im pretty sure u cant 'swype' on betterkeyboard. the only other keyboard app that i can recall with swype-like usage is SlideIt and thats not free.. go for swype, i guarantee it has a comma key, on the left of the space bar.. check out a youtube video or something :)

Everyone that tells you there is a comma is correct, to settle this look at the screen shot:

this thread just made my day. Just tried swype for the first time and I'm loving it. and yes there is defiantly a comma key. Make sure you have turned on the swype keyboard.

Like others said. Use swype! Takes a but of getting used to buy its amazing. Plus it looks cool. Can't even tell you how many of my friends I've amazed with swyping my fingers across the screen lol...

The standard keyboard is horrible in layout in my opinion, comma and smilies are buried and coming from a desire this was enough to dampen my excitement when i got the handset. Until i realised the the htc mod keyboard i had on my desire is also 100% compatible with the s2. go to http://www.gimpsta.com/themer/index.php you'll need to create an account which takes 2 seconds and then you are free to experiment with keyboard designs to your hearts content. The site is free and created by someone over at xda and it is brilliant, virtually everything is customisable in the options, really fast to use and wipes the floor with every other keyboard available. Just make sure you select v27-froyo high res when beginning the creation on the site and you'll have no worries.

When you say download, do you mean transferring onto the phone? If you got it onto your phone you need to install it using a file manager, download astro file manager (free version) off of the market, run it and find the location on the phone where the keyboard is saved and it will install it as an app. Then all thats left is to go into your messaging or any typing app, long press in a text field and select input method, then just select your new keyboard. Hope that helps.
