I had the similar thing happen yesterday. My phone alerted me that I was receiving an update. After getting very excited, i learned i was just getting a new update for google maps... *sigh*

I have used the official release here and can confirm an upgraded Sense UI and the unit runs much smoother than 2.2. There isnt as many lags in the menus and there is this distinct polished feel to it compared to 2.2. Its by far the best build for the Incredible. I'll try to get my hands on the unit again hopefully Monday. I own the Incredible myself.

Michael was a confirmed Verizon rep who got screwed over by VZW kicking the upgrade back to HTC at the last minute for fixes. Not sure what Evan is, but most of these self-proclaimed insiders typically do the equivalent of a drive-by. They make a post guaranteeing the update date, then disappear.
 
My bros gf has the EVO on Sprint. She got the update yesterday... she only realized it after I asked her... then she downloaded it -_- damn.
 
I have enjoyed readin this thread as a reminder of the froyo thread. I run cm7 so the update is not as interesting to me.

However it should be fun to be here when it hits and people are enjoying the update.

Oh was he? Wow, I had no freaking clue. The rate at which that thread grew though it wasn't all that hard to miss a post.

Got it memorized because I am hanging on the edge for a GB Update.

Although I got excited earlier because I seen this pin-wheel rotating on the notification bar. Turned out it was only syncing. :cool:
 
Voice to text (which I used a lot) is not working!!! WTF?!?!? I have the Sprint HTC Evo. I had planned on getting the Evo 3D Friday, but if it's going to have all these issues that the present Evo have with the gingerbread upgrade, then forget it!! Somebody at Google had better bake a fresh batch and FAST because this one was stale on delivery.

Unfortunately the update had to be delayed until next week due to network issues which were not resolved in time to push the update. I have now confirmation of the update rescheduled for next week. Confirmed by my manager and via bulletins in our intranet.
 
-_- take a picture of something to prove it. Blur something if it risks your job. Even better, do you have a direct line through Verizon?

Why are you people being so harsh to Evan? Ease up. Who knows? Maybe it's HTC pulling the strings hear. Evan seems to be saying only what he's hearing from Verizon.

Given the EXTREME number of times this classic "troll" is used on tech. forums. Its a pretty much given fact you should be able some sort of proof.(screen shot, respected poster, etc)

A one off, first time poster claiming to have "inside" information turning out to be legit is about the same odds as getting money from Nigeria...

No offense to Evan if he is legit and trying to help. (and I do hope he's legit)

Me too, for the only reason that they're giving a larger window.

Really, that post tells us nothing. First, it's from April. Second, Summer is anytime from now till September. Third, it's a tech blog I've never seen before posting a random, unverified email, supposedly from some low level customer service monkey. Anyone who thinks this is really fundamentally more reliable than some random "insider" posting on a forum is kidding themselves. You realize the blog has a direct financial motive for passing on iffy/bad info like this.
