As for my 1000th post on these forums, I've put together a list of every custom ROM out there for the Optimus, ranging from stock 2.1 to CyanogenMod 7:

[Note: some members may find certain unrelated content on the linked site objectionable. The links provided below are perfectly safe and legitimate, just be aware of the 'other stuff']

2.1 ROMs:
Rom arekl1988r
Super Optimized 2.1
EleganceSwift
Pashinator
Quarx Black
Stock 2.1

2.2 ROMs:
Synergy
Mike's Froyo
Froyo Optimum
HTC Sense Ports
SwiftDroid's Little Brother
CyanogenMod 6

2.3 ROMs:
Clean Android 2.3
CyanogenMod 7

4.0 ROMs:
Ice Cream Sandwich by mikegapinski

I've also made tutorials on installing ROM's updating through recovery, installing recovery and more.

Downloads too for themes and boot animations

Since the ROMs are put in their own posts in forums, it means that there's a place for questions about each ROM and any help if it's needed.

use overclock widget made by some xda member for overclocking lg gt540 2.1 stock rom

Can you show me a link?

Also, thinking of using a different 2.1 rom, which one should I use if I want only overclocking + all normal 2.1 features.

I forget the original link of xda forum so I upload it http://db.tt/adDjC23 , all credit goes to xda mem who created it. I am using stock official 2.1 ROM with this widget. it provides Max 600 mhz .

I think Super Optimized 2.1, but I'm not 100% sure. The best way would be for you to try each one to see which is best for you

which one is the best balanced rom as per as speed and supported hardware features is concerned.

I can't speak from personal experience here, because I haven't tried out every single ROM here :p But from reading it seems that Super Optimized 2.1 would be the best for speed and hardware compatibility.

But I could be wrong.. If Super Optimized 2.1 doesn't do the trick for you, look up the other ROMs and see which one you think would and try it out! :)

I have recently switched to cyanogen6.it works fine for me.i hard that cyanogen7 is not stable.

CyanogenMod 7 is way more stable than CM6.. CM6 is no longer in development and has broken features which won't get fixed. CM7 is much better :)

Well I bet clean 2.3 would be faster since the nice features are removed which slow down the phone. Try it out :)

Thanks, I will but before I do, Which features are removed :)

also will my data be wiped?

Well the CyanogenMod features would be; things like DSP Manager, Theme chooser, CyanogenMod Settings in the settings menu. That's what I can remember off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more.

I recommend you make a backup in recovery of your current ROM, then use the auto .exe or manually install the clean 2.3 ROM, just to make sure there aren't any clashes. Then to restore your data you boot into recovery then go to backup and restore>advanced restore>choose the backup of the original ROM>restore data. Then reboot. If you get stuck in a bootloop, then you'd have to restore the original ROM, make a backup of your data using MyBackup Root, then restore it after installing clean 2.3 :)

ah!
anyway to get themechooser for the other ROM then? my love of themeing you see D:
like by using the APK?

Thanks :)

Hmm, not sure if it'd work but if you install clean 2.3 then I'll send you over the theme chooser apk and you can see if it works :D

I'll install it now :)
using recovery to install from cyanogen works right?

my computer cant seem to see my phone once again it does the beepbeep then nothing, no notifications saying searching for drivers or stuff.. i run the exe and it just restarts my phone..

just used recovery, seems to have worked fine and was fast.
Restored data and the phone booted up no problems then about 2mins in crashed..

gonna try mybackup root now
