Help Turn off notifications and sync with facebook

Hi,

I'm new with the Android system and just got my Optimus X2. But i wonder how to turn off the notifications from apps like Facebook for Android etc?

And I also wonder how to sync my contacts with my facebook contacts?

Go into the settings for Facebook for Android and you can find the sync and notification options.

Doesn't seem to stick. When I turn my phone back on and connect to Wifi, it loads all the notifications that I have already seen on my PC, very annoying.
