Just a quick question really. Has anyone noticed after the gingerbread update that there speaker was considerably louder?

That's one of the improvements that many have said that they have had since the update. It's great news, as the volume was rubbish before!!

Indeed i was that peed off with the speaker on dhd i actually bought an external one off ebay for

I agree, but I think they could go a little further though. I know it's a phone, not a tv, but all the same... it'd be nice to be able to play youtube vids on it to a group of people (and for them to be able to hear it) other than in a quiet room - perhaps this is something that will come in a future update??

I am acutally rooted and so have had GB for a while, but still think that a bit more volume wouldn't hurt!!

It's not that difficult - I don't consider myself to be very techno-savvy and I managed to do it!

All I would say is that you must read and re-read... be sure you understand what is involved!

EDIT - please note that not all versions of Gingerbread (if you are on that already) are rootable (I am thinking of version 2.37), but it does look like there is hope (not 100% confirmed yet, but it shouldn't be long) - http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...7-firmware-cracked-not-yet-100-confirmed.html

One of the first things I did when I got my phone. Best thing I did also! I also did s-off and installed rom manager and I'm now changing between leedroid and cyanogenmod7! Its worth the small hassle IMO!

i upgraded to gingerbread, then i downgraded to froyo, rooted with visionary+ and used a one click s-off tool! really easy mate, i used a cmd prompt tool from here:

that helped me make a goldcard, and then downgrade
