Help Swype-Changing language by itself

My phone seems to think I enjoy texting in Spanish as Swype switches from English to Spanish at least three or four times a day. I've checked language settings on the rest of the phone and they remain "English" however Swype still changes the language. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

Many of us have seen that same thing in the past on the stock keyboard.

Only solution is to factory reset.

Something is tangled in a cache, either for the app or the phone in general.

If you're confident that an update is coming to fix this, maybe wait it out.

But if you have other pernicious bugs, if I were you, I'd go for the factory reset, because things will only get worse if you don't, from what I've seen.

Yeah 3.0 gets rid of it, as soon as we get this sucker rooted, or swype goes live with 3.0, we won't have this issue anymore :)

Also 3.0 uses a much better system than that annoying popup for predicting words

It's probably the language button on the Swype keyboard, the little one that says "EN" or "ES"

It sucks bigtime, but the good news is Swype 3.0 gets rid of that annoying little button, we just have to wait for it to get out of beta so we can use it

I think this was the issue for me.... my phone started doing the spanish dictionary thing today and after reading this post i looked down and sure enough, that little EN/ES button was on spanish.

yes i had the same problem..when i cleared the cache(setting\applications\manage application\all\swype) the problem sorted out

Toggling back the En/Es key above the letter Q solved the problem immediately. Thanks strat1227.

Folks, definitely try this simple solution before going radical with factory reset. EVO 4g

I have Gingerbread and Swype version 3.4 (something something something) and I was going INSANE! I didnt even NOTICE the EN / ES button next to the dash key!! I held it down and it popped up with English and Spanish both checked, so I unchecked the Spanish and now I'm not having problems :) I was like WTH! I had even changed it under my actual settings under Swype not just the settings from the keyboard. So yeah, if you have my phone *Samsung Epic* hold down that key and UNCLICK! lol, thanks again for the help :)

Thanks! I have been having that issue since my swype updated about 2 months ago. Anytime I accidentally hit the key, it switched to Spanish. Holding down the key worked. Unchecked Spanish and problem solved! I am soooo Happy!
