Root [ROM] GB-CMod7-Beta

Well I was thinking this would be great seeing as how I had (still have) CM7 on my other phone (M860 Ascend) but after boot, it goes to the setup screen (the one that says Welcome To LG Optimus. At that screen, I hit the SKIP button to skip the warnings, and then I hit the button to use an existing Gmail account, and the phone says "Slide your keyboard open to continue"

Can't get any farther than this. I wiped ALL data (except SD card) using Joneidy recovery before I flashed. Phone was previously running Teamchickeneater ROM with no issues.

Also, just now noticed I am locked out of the phone totally. Lock screen won't come up, it just stays black (although I do see the backlight coming on)

Suggestions? Did I do something wrong?

take out the battery restart phone and go to cyanogenmod display settings and uncheck both animations settings screen on and off.

your suppose to skip past everything even the gmail setup and do the above first.

But how do I get to Cyanogen mod settings? I don't think I saw a way to get past the setup screen???

Will try it again anyway. Gonna reflash CM7 again, since I did a nandroid restore for the time being.

EDIT: alright I didn't see the SKIP button. Duh... sorry I have a nasty toothache and it's messin with my thinkin lol. So is this gonna disable all my LauncherPro animations and stuff too? Is there a fix coming?

EDIT (again): alright, I though my MMS still wasn't working, but it seems to be fine now. I can send and receive just fine. I just make sure to use the stock Messaging app when sending, as Handcent faltered once and got stuck. Handcent also gives an incorrect timestamp on incoming MMS, but these are such a minor things for me that I don't even consider it an issue, just a "something to look into later" type of deal.

GPS seems to be working in Maps.

Thanks again and don't worry, I didn't forget to mash the Thanks button for both y'all :-)

Hi there, I got confuse, how you get the recovery menu after restart the phone?, I couldnt get it
If you have a custom recovery you can use one of two apps on the market.
Areboot or Quickboot.
Both allow you to boot into recovery or simply reboot the phone.

If you don't have a custom recovery installed, don't go any further until you do. Don't try to boot into recovery using the key combo or the apps.

You need to make sure you boot the rom atleast once before you flash the fix.

I too can't get it to work. I've flashed to cm7 then booted. Then power off then power on to recovery menu and then flash MMS fix downloaded with IE and MD5 checked. I've done this a few times with no positive results. Any further thoughts or things I could try?

I'm having the same problems, decided to get go SMS and use their mms service instead

in Cyanogen mod every time I lock the screen, it goes black indefinitely, but still makes noise.

edit: forget it

Or if your using the cm7 rom, while your phone is on hold the power button down click reboot and it will let you choose to boot into recovery

alright, so I got Cmod7 Installed and its seems like its working great, one issue Im having is playing video files, on my stock Froyo they played fine, but after I went to Cmod7, they don't seem to want to play, when I click on the video, the screen goes black as if wanting to play, then goes back to the selection screen, I tried both RockPlayer and mVideoPlayer.

Im using Rockplayer v 1.5 (for some reason 1.7.2 doesnt want to install), and mvideo from the market.

@shamx idk what that can be but lets troubleshoot here lol. You flashed it correctly? As in wiped everything? And do they play in the gallery app?

As far as I belive I flashed it correctly lol. Got the custom recovery on, made a Nand backup, wiped everything then installed the ROM. And no they don't showup in the gallery app, only thing that comes up there are my pictures. This is very odd, I don't want to reflash if I don't have to, spent alot of time customizing this thing lol.

Every time I get Cyanogen mod, it works perfectly fine,

After I restore everything through Titanium Backup, if the phone is turned off for any reason, the next time you turn it on endless boot animation.

Why?

What exactly is "everything" you're restoring. You should only be reinstalling user apps. Restoring a system app is not recommended when flashing a ROM, as it may cause conflicts.

define sytem app
If your Titanium Backup PRO is updated, you'll see 3 colors in the apps list. White is for user apps, red is for system apps and green is for settings/configuration files.

Stock apps that LG/Google/Metro put on the phone such as Email, GMail, Maps, LGHome, Browser, Settings, etc. shouldn't be restored or restored with caution. Independent bloatware can be restored without issue. Free Games, Metro Navigator and other bloat can be put back.

Some personal data is stored independently of the system app, highlighted with Green and noted as User Data. "Data" from some system apps can be restored regardless of the ROM. For example, you can restore your Email 1.0's 'data', as it will just be the emails themselves and server settings. But if Email 1.0 is not already present in the ROM, putting the app in the phone may not work.

Try restoring smaller batches or starting just with user apps if you are trying to restore everything.

My lights on the bottom buttoms are not working. Do they not work wit this rom or could it have something to do with the OC kernel i put?

EDIT: ok so im pretty sure it was the OC becuz i attempted a reboot and all i got was the blue circle go around and around and around my lil droid. lol. Guess time to ReFlash.
(please correct me if was not the OC making the lites not work. I am only deffinate thst it was the OC that gave me the boot loop)

The lights are disabled in CM7. It's made known somewhere in this thread.
