Help Returning to Launcher screens empty. Redraws all screens?

MJBarnes

Newbie
Hello. I have seen various posts regarding lag, etc... However, I am not sure this is a lag issue. More often than not whenever I return to my home screens from an application, the screens are blank and its almost like it has to redraw all the widgets and icons. Sometimes this can take up to 45 seconds or so which can be pretty annoying when wanting to run another application.

I am using the stock launcher and yes, I know I can root and yes, I know I can use other Launchers, but before I do that I want to see if I can get this working.

I am assuming others are having this issue?

Help!

Thanks.

I have had something similar happen but not to the extent that you are encountering. It seems to happen when i have a lot of apps running at the same time.

Normal behavior when you're running RAM intensive apps. The system is killing your widgets and icons to allocate the RAM to whatever you're running.

Is this the doing of the stock samsung task manager? If so, is there a way to exclude apps? I HATE this, none of my previous phones ever did this.

I believe it's a default setting for the Android OS. I remember the homescreens resetting all the time with my OG Droid

There are some that believe it may link back to the memory card that came with your phone. The Read/Write speed of 2X on most Samsung Cards can cause some lag. I have read that those with 6X and 10X card get better response and snap back, especially with camera apps. FWIW...

Same redraw here but I am using go launcher, though it doesn't take as long to redraw the screen, more of around 5-10 seconds. I previously used launcher pro but it did the same as well, I was hoping go launcher would fix but its still there. Always happens to me when coming out of the browser

I have now tried all 3 launchers and it does the same. Launcher Pro, GO, and the stock launcher.

It can best be described as re-drawing all icons and widgets after you return from running most applications. When I look at the apps list, they are all initially those little green android icons and then they slowly become their normal icons. Does that make sense?

Its almost as though it has to re-read all of the apps that are on the phone and re-draw them again.

I have an Infuse and this does not happen on the infuse.

So, it sounds as though others are experiencing the same issue? Thanks for the feedback.

i have had this same issue on my charge. i also used to get it on my og. it usually happens after i was opening /closing multple programs within a few mins. it does happen on launcher pro also. on the og it started happening more and more when my memory was full and escpecially slow loading my apps lists

Well this is a brand new, 4G Droid phone, not the OG Droid. This is unacceptable. This phone was marketed as having a gig of memory, but only a paltry 350mb are usable.

Actually it was marketed with 512 mb of ram. But really it should of had a gig.

Needs the lag fix incorporated to work properly. It got a little annoying on the lag, especially after I imported all my old txt messages, would hang for 4-5 seconds then redraw the home screen.

voodoo fixed this 100%.

Sammy needs to incorporate these, or similar changes, to the next OTA.
