Samsung Galaxy S2 US Release Date/Carriers?

Yeah, most Verizon folks don't know any better than most of us when it comes to upcoming phones. Verizon probably doesn't want to spoil Bionic launch by leaking SGSII info even if it's coming soon after that.
 
I got a big question, and I'm really hoping someone can answer it. It's said that T-Mobile's Herecules may be released around September 26th. Why is it so late? ATT, Sprint, and Verizon were supposed to get their Samsung Galaxy s2 variants late July or maybe in August right? But for TMO late SEPTEMBER? What's going on? If I have to wait until the 26th of September for the Herecules, I'm just going to get the HTC Sensation unless the s2 comes out to TMO.

I don't think anyone other than Samsung/T-mobile insider can answer that.
If you are with t-mobile, why not get Sensation and wait for Hercules? What do you expect from Hercules or SGSII that's not in Sensation?
 
I'm just curious as to why the three major carriers are getting it around the same time, and then TMO gets it like a month later, isn't it supposed to be like all 4 around the same time?

Well, who knows really. My guess is maybe Samsung didn't want to waste their time/resource on making T-mobile version of SGSII when it might get acquired by AT&T any time. Then they probably realized it might taker longer than initially thought, so decided to give them a rushed beefed Infuse like model with Qualcomm processor instead of making fourth variant of US SGSII.

Yes, I thought it was 30.
DX2 getting packed up tomorrow and returned. They said my early upgrade would roll back and I can use it fresh when the GS2 comes out. Yay :)

There were some leaked photos of Attain which looks very close to international GS2. But there are some slight changes like four capacitive buttons on bottom. Internal spec would be similar to original GS2 I guess though.

Samsung Galaxy S II set for US debut in August

Samsung’s mobile chief revealed on Wednesday that the Korean smartphone giant will launch its popular Galaxy S II Android handset in the US in August, at a time where it could face stiff competition from Apple’s next-generation iPhone.

Yonhap News reports that Shin Jong-kyun, president of Samsung’s mobile business and digital imaging, told reporters in a media briefing ”we expect to release the Galaxy S2 in the U.S. market sometime in August,” keeping addition details on its launch to a minimum.


An August launch follows a successful launch in Europe and Asia in April, where the company recorded three million sales in less than two months.


Samsung will likely brand the Samsung Galaxy S II in partnerships with various US mobile operators, emulating the launch of the first Galaxy S smartphone in the country. However, when the device launches, many consumers may consider waiting to see what Apple has planned with its next-generation iPhone.

The Cupertino-based company sold 20.34 million iPhones in its second quarter, with analysts estimating that Samsung sold 19.5 million smartphones in the same period.

I am just "citing" what I found. No exact date, but they are trying to blow out the iPhone 5 by releasing it around the same time.
Better get it before the lawsuit against Samsung completes (too much like the iPhone)
Apple always has to bitch, but in their defense, the SG2 looks ALOT like it, lol.

So, this is the best I could find and these reports are all less than 24 hours old.

Sorry this news didn't say July 24th, but that's also a Sunday and I doubt they would release on the weekend to begin with.

I can't wait. I returned the DX2 after a few days. It's crap.
I am using my busted up D1 for now and it blows.

I got the DX2, gave my GF my D2, returned the DX2, now using D1.
I want to take my D2 back, but she loves it. Grrrr lol

Just as a little pointer; you don't have to update your contract before that date. If that date comes and goes you'll still have the same plan and features as you currently have but no penalty if you leave.

You very likely already know this but you'd be surprised how often people expect their service to stop once their contract runs out.

Last I read from an "analyst" was 8/14 forecast for release on VZW.
News is stale now as I read that several days ago.

Anyone?
 
I am eagerly awaiting the release of the SGS II in the USA also. There are ZERO confirmed release dates or carriers. Who knows why it's taking so long. I am currenly using a Nexus S on Sprints HORRID network (in the Sarasota, Fl area). I love the Nexus S, however, I cannot wait to fire Sprint and purchase the GS II via T Mobile or Verizon. This phone is going to sell millions of units in the USA.

This is the second loose report of a VZW release in the middle of August.
I am starting to think there is some merit now.
 
ya except they don't even list any source for the august 12th date they heard. they could just be 1 week late in reporting the same august 12 release date some industry analyst guessed last week
 
Well I am in a toss up between the SGS2 or the Droid Bionic. If the Galaxy had 4G LTE it seems the way to go. Do we know for sure that it will be 4G LTE on verizon yet?
