[INFO] Tether SGT 10.1 to Phone via Bluetooth

My DX is rooted with the TBH hotspot fix, so it works for free, but the thing I like about BT sharing is that it's a core feature that I didn't have to hack to use.

Glad to see it is working for the DX's. I just got a Charge in order to lock in my unlimited data. Now I can't get it to work either on my Charge. Let me see if I can figure this out.

PDAnet for tablet works great for me.

hTc EVO 2.3.3
Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab

are you rooted? i can't get it to work. able to set proxy, but when i select the evo from step two, it says bluetooth not enable on phone. tried multiple times to make sure they are paired.

Newbie here...
Giving this a try. DX is connected to Tab. Tab shows connected to device for internet access. But when I go to my browser, i get the message "borwser cannot load this page because there is no internet connection". What am I missing??

nothing, the message is expected. continue to browse anyway.

Can someone explain why pdanet doesn't allow apps to utilize the Internet connection? The browser works great but all other apps won't go online

I can do it with my nokia n82 running on symbians s60v3. There is a software called joiku hotspot that make it a wifi hotspot and so i can connect to my 3g network and share it with gta.

it makes sense to me that if the Droid X will work, that the DX2 should also? if they have the same bluetooth profiles shouldnt it tether with the Galaxy Tab also? I currently have an Eris (yes, I know) looking for a phone that will tether with a tab. MutantCheese, is this one of the reasons why you returned the DX2, because it wont tether to the tab?
Thanks!

I didn't have the GT10 while I had the DX2 so I couldn't tell you if they worked together or not. I returned the DX2 because it wasn't enough of an upgrade from the DX to warrant the full retail price that I paid for it.

I know it says confirmed with the X. I recently got my GT 10, and the Droid 3. I followed the above directions, it says I am connected via bluetooth, but when I bring up Gmail or any web page it says there is no internet connection. It seems that I am just missing a little step, but a newbie also, I cant figure it out. I know above it says to browse anyway, but I am not able to. Any thoughts?

once connected, you can only browse via the browser (just ignore the not connected to the internet general message). other apps, like email, gmail, etc. will not work.

Edit: sorry, this is if you are using pdanet tablet app. see mutantcheese's post below if you have droid X.

Not true. All of my apps work when tethered via bluetooth. I can even stream netflix through my DX on the GT10.

Edit: I am using a droid X and Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi only version.

I got my GT10 a few days ago, WiFi only, using the coupon from Staples. $399...awesome deal. Today I saw this thread and thought I give it a try, using my Droid 2 Global from Verizon. Took only minutes, and I am up and runnig. THANK YOU ALL. Saves me $20/month for hotspot

I don't think you will be saving money because your carrier will know that you are tethering, and they will raise your fee automatically.

I cant get this to work on my rooted 16gb wifi tab. connected to my Incredible running Optimized Shift rom.
