I find it amusing that "dingo's" are tied for the lead in the poll :P

Never underestimate the power of rabid dingo's :D

And as far as VZW guy says - "it is still being developed." Really? GB has been released for how long now? What is Verizon doing to it to take so long? Supposedly HTC has already given it to Verizon, so it should be ready. Thanks Verizon for having to load it up with your crap so it takes so much longer for us to get it

(yes, I know Verizon gets paid for that stuf.. blah blah blah - but there comes a point where supporting and "development" costs over weigh what they're getting for putting it on in the first place!)

I love my Incredible and find it is still very useful with Android 2.2. I'm interested in Sense 2.0 as much as I am the 2.3 update. I understand Sense 2.0 is probably a no-go. As useful as the newer versions of Sense have become, I'll lean strongly towards a vanilla Android phone in the future.

Note: it seems Google and other developers are doing a good job of pushing out apps that run on 2.2 and don't require 2.3. I'd be much less happy if that wasn't the case. Bring on the dingos! ;)

It would seem to me that they wouldn't release a GB update for the Incredible. I get the feeling that Verizon is phasing out the handset and going to other devices like the Incredible 2, the Charge and even the Droid 3. I wouldn't expect them to put anything out, especially when no word from anyone official has been made regarding this actually taking place. :( Perhaps rooting is the only way if you want up int he updates ladder.

For the 150th to last time. HTC and VZW will be upgrading the incredible to gingerbread.

The reason why your logic is not reality is that incredible users are 6-16 months away from upgrade for those who keep phones 2 years. Keeping them happy with an extra update is good business for them.

Now can we please stop posting the no update coming. We have already seen a leak to prove it is coming.

I don't see on the poll any Mayan calendar dates, what gives?:D

Still, I'd like to see who in the thread gets GB first and at what time.

I'll take any update that's stable, not buggy or full of needless bloatware.

After the INC, not sure where to go from here as to phones, but sure wish that Google and mfg's work together to provide a more level baseline in updates and end of life of OS for a specific model.

Sure wish all phones had a set number of updates or other ways to judge the benefits of one over another.

My guess after this GB update, we can expect nothing more. So where does one go after INC and GB?

Into my pile of old cell phones at the end of my contract.

LOL at my misread of your post....

I'm hoping that manufacturers keep screen sizes reasonable on phones. I personally find the Dinc to be just about perfect for a phone. I look at the monsters like Thunderbolt or EVO and am just turned off by the size.

Other than that, I will likely buy whatever is the most affordable fastest android phone available. Given that I have owned Motorola (three times), Nokia, and LG (two) phones I have proven myself to not be all that brand loyal. But....I really like the Dinc, so I will look to see what HTC has to offer (if anything after paying off apple).

Well said.

Yeah, who knows what's really "next" after the INC.

Let's hope is fast and able to do the things we need to do or want.

Personally, I think that my Inc does the job, and it still does it well. I don't think there is a device that is worth upgrading to at this point in time. Other devices have their own set of issues as we move to larger and faster phones with batteries that struggle to keep up. I rather wait for that to develop some more. My phone is rooted and with CM7 GB.

I think the only upgrade worth it at this point is the next Google Experience Device that will be rocking Ice Cream Sandwich. How likely do you think it is that Vzw will get it? Here's to hoping... or will I jump ship? Ahhh!!!!

This one will still be used once I have a new.phone. it will be an mp3 player, wifinetflix, ebook reader, game playing devise for me or.my kids.

Otherwise, I love this phone. My next will be similar

Yes I love my Dinc
I'm not worried that I have over a year left. It should be just fine in that time frame

I love my DINC as well and if no update comes, so be it. There should have been another "unlikely" voting option:

Same here. 1 year and 3 months into my Inc, and I have no desire to change yet, especially since there's nothing that's leaps and bounds better yet. My wife's Eris is up for early renewal at the end of August, and I'm thinking she'll get an Incredible 2 just because it's an improvement over her Eris.

It wouldn't be an improvement over my Inc, though, so I'm sticking with it for however long it takes for VZW to get my next phone:

HTC (won't use anything else)
4G (it won't get to our area till next summer so no hurry there)
Multi-core processor (just future proofing since I'll have it for 2 years)
Similar size screen to the Inc (no more than 4")

Maybe by April 28, 2012 (yup, I was a pre-orderer), my next phone will be available from VZW. With Ice Cream Sandwich. Until it is, I can wait.

I'm with you. First time in 13 years I'm not chomping at the bit to get a new phone.

for God's sake people - it's just a damn phone!

My next phone will probably be an ipad2/3/4/5 (whatever # they're on) and a good ole fashioned 'stupid' phone that I can go back to charging whenever I feel like it. Better for presentations, which a 'phone' cannot really do...for now.

update/no update/iPadX & stupid phone...either way, none of them will change my life, because it just a phone.

Yes, I see battery capabilities are the biggest issue with phones these days. It will be nice when they finally figure out a way to improve batteries. I would love to get a few days of usage out of my phone without have an extended battery.

I am not sure Verizon will ever see a Google Experience Device because I don't think Verizon will be able to install any of their bloatware of the phone, and I don't see Verizon agreeing to something like that. I could be wrong though, it has been known to happen.

There don't seem to be very many 'stupid' phones left. Almost everything coming out these days seem to be smart phones. Carriers are realizing data plans is where they are going to make their money now.

This is where we disagree. My phone is my browser, GPS, mp3 player, calendar, address book, portable movie/tv watcher, grocery list, classified section, scoreboard, .........(too hot to list everything it does) .... and PHONE.

Ihave used it to remind me to take medicine and also helped me save face in an auditorium full of parents at work when a CD player failed to tunction

Not just a phone to me and it changes my life because it does all these things.

On the other hand I am rooted so I don't care about the update.

AMEN borther
and agreed i think all the people who are complaing about the update need to unleash there phone and root it and then the INC wll show its true power
