Help Netflix on Droid 3 !?!?

It looks like they finally released Netflix in the market for the Droid 3.

I installed it and I can log in. However, I only see black when streaming a movie.

Anyone have any luck with this application?

I had installed an off-market version, but it also had troubles so I uninstalled. Hope that did not hose me...

Now if they can just get skype video chat to work, I will have very few complaints about my new toy!

Thanks for pointing that out, I've been waiting for netflix to appear.

Unfortunately I had less luck than you. When I started streaming something it was green blocks for about 2 seconds then my phone rebooted....

Maybe it could use a few more days of development. Ill keep playing with it because I really want it to work. Just think.... star trek wherever you are....:D

Same as cozz, green blocks and my first reboot since getting the D3 last Thursday. I really tried to choke the D3 all this time, but it took a probable mistake release by Netflix to finally do it.

Good job, Netflix... Not!

Added: I uninstalled it.

I had the exact same thing.

Now I feel left out, I saw no green blotches at all.

But at least my phone did not reboot. Still reboot free after a few days!

I don't know how they can figure that it has a four star rating when all you see are one star reviews. It crashes quite a few phones, not just the D3.

the rating takes an average of all the reviews, and displays the most recent ones first. my guess is that since the app has been out it has worked great on the vast majority of phones. it seems that they just updated it (which is why we can see it on our d3's now), but it seems that the newest update has a few bugs on some phones which is why everyone has been giving it 1 star recently - therefore the most recent reviews you see are all 1 star.

i'm sure they'll get the hint and soon and fix a few bugs asap. i know that netflix on smartphones has been something vzw has been pushing and marketing quite a bit lately. there's probably plenty of pressure to get this thing working asap

It looks like they updated the phone compatibility list before actually updating the app. One would think that means the app will be updated soon.

After reading some other reviews and hints, I installed Netflix. I then turned off the phone and restarted it. Netflix started up, showed my movie list and played a movie. Sound was great but like the others, the video was green and pink static. It's not ready.

That was my guess.. the market had a 1.2.x version but the wording mentions version 1.3 (right above the license agreement https://market.android.com/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient )

Also I had Netflix on my Droid 3 already ( installed from .apk ) and it wasn't showing any update available in the market (neither was AppBrain). So that also makes it seem like the wording was changed, but the update isn't in the market yet.

I would suggest everyone go ahead and download the current version, then keep an eye out for an upgrade that will probably hit soon. That is what I plan to do.

Netflix worked great on the Incredible and even the firmware challenged DX2. Just as good as my iPod 4, which is great. That was 1.2, though.

For me Netflix does the green static thing followed by a reboot. Everytime so far.

Just downloaded and launched it and got the green screen and crashed. Then i went into the market and there is an update and now it works fine picture is correct now.

My son just installed the update and it is now working as well. He is so happy since I have had it for awhile on my phone.

Yep, looks like a quick update fixed it. Now to wait for a Skype update...

Anyone know of a mini HDMI to RCA cheap converter? :-)

Droid 3, as noted in my Device list. :)

At the time asked, I still had the version that was released earlier yesterday that was not updated. You got the one they updated with shortly after, that was the REAL update- that I knew nothing about until a few minutes later.

Is there a way to watch Netflix (using the droid 3) on a TV using the hdmi connection on the Droid 3? Thanks

How is the quality of the picture? The reason I ask about this working is I tried it with my ipod touch. Downloaded netflix app and hooked up ipod to tv via rca cable. I was able to hear sound but not see the video. Also, salesperson at Verizon said it won't work. HDMI was only good for content on the Droid 3 not streaming video from an app like netflix.
