Help Endless bootanimation

Newbie
Big BIG problem.
FlyTouch 3, temporary root using Z4root.
Replaced bot animation using this tutorial:
How To Change, Customize & Create Android Boot Animation [Guide]
Used this bootanimation.zip file - AndroidParticles2:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19412696/480x800_AndroidParticles2.zip
Got it from here:
[BOOT ANIMATION] The Droids - xda-developers
I put the ZIP file in this folder: /system/media/ - that was probably a very stupid ideea.
Now the tablet is not getting past the boot animation.
In the middle of the animation, there's a 1-2 seconds pause, white screen instead of android robot.
Endless bootanimation loop.
Of course, tried hard reset. Of course, it did not help.
Probably, all my apps and bookmakrs are gone.
Probable solution: flash a custom ROM. But that's really scary.
Any other ideas?

Yes...it was a very stupid idea I'm afraid. you have now discovered what happens when you alter the boot sequence without knowing what you are doing.
A re-flash is your only option if the tablet will not complete it's boot sequence and the alleged recovery start-up sequence wont fix it. Do you know if it was a DISCO or a SAWEE?

I did the tutorial exactly like it said. It should have been 100% safe.
But yeah, the "system" folder was closer, no nned to scroll up to the "data" folder.
I think it was DISCO, 1024x600 screen reslution.
Can you please recommand a tutorial and the necessary files for re-flashing ?
Is there a "safe boot" option for Android ?

Later edit:
I founn this firmware:
aPad.TV The home of the aPad. Forums - Download Facepad SP2 Flytouch3 Firmware

Procedure is like this, as I understand: download, unzip to sd card root folder, boot. Everything else is automatic.
