Root [ROM][WIP] CM6-Ascend (CyanogenMod 6) Current: 04212011 (Cricket/MetroPCS MMS WORKING!)

You can use TITANIUM BACKUP to convert GO LAUNCHER to a SYSTEM APP.
As for deleting the stock launcher,I'd just freeze it to see if you run into problems.
 
Froze adw, same thing happened , just as if I uninstalled it, guess i'm gonna have to buy the paid version of titanium backup, I use antek app manager to freeze apps.

One word of caution:Not sure if you'll run into problems or not by simply inserting another launcher as a system app & deleting the stock launcher.
Make a backup of your current ROM as a precaution.
I've run into problems w/freezing the stock launcher on the stock 2.1.1 ROM,however,you may have a different result w/CM6 or CM7.

As long as you clear all the widgets off the stock launcher,it shouldn't be an issue as far as consuming resources(CPU,BATTERY,PERFORMANCE) while using another launcher.
Keep us posted on your results.
 
I'm gonna try root explorer, I just need better instructions, deleted the stock launcher a long time ago. What I really want to do, is replace adw with golauncher, and autorotate control, in the rom.

You can do this w/TITANIUM BACKUP PRO.Just long press on the desired user app & you'll see a 'WHITE LIST' w/various options,one of them being converting user apps to system apps.Then,the converted apps will be part of 'your' ROM.
 
Worked perfectly, made golauncher a sys app, went to change adw to a user app, and somehow it disappeared. Now when I boot up my phone, my launchers aren't fighting to be default. I'm gonna copy golauncher as a system app and insert it into a copy of cm6, and delete adw apk. I have a backup sd that I can test this on.

COOL! Please keep us up to date on your progress/results.
 
Did make it default, over and over again, everytime I rebooted the phone, i was greeted to adw, all over again, that's what prompted me to see if I could change it to a user app, and vice* a versa* with golauncher, move adw to sd, and wash, rinse, delete.

Did you try Home Manager, or one of the similar apps?

it maybe set as default in the build.prop. You can also delete ADW (after installing another launcher) with root explorer.
 
anyone have problems dowloading the zips from the wiki page even on wifi from the phone? it downloads in like 10 seconds and saits the files only like 27kb instead over over 50mb like it should be, it does not work if you try to flash it.

best if you download it using rom manager, but i never had that problem, might be the browser you are using, i have use stock browser all the time but i also have tried it with Opera browser free in market.

sorry thought it was cm7 you was looking for, just notice im in cm6, lmao i need some sleep, but try it again using wifi, i will also upload it later on to mediafire.com seems alot of peoples have had issues downloading from uploading.com.
 
please let me know when you do if you could post the link so i could try it. i tired so far 2 different times on wifi so i guess ill wait for the mediafire link.
 
Deleted stuff I didn't want, facebook app eradicated, can go thru email with that, twitter, not a fan, news and weather, banished, adw, don't let the door hit you in the rear. I still haven't inserted golauncher as a system app into the rom zip yet, but will.

So I'm not the only one that's had that problem... Lol

If you read back a little in this same thread you'll see I had a hell of a time getting cm6. You'll also see what I did to solve the problem. Basically, try again, and again, and again, and again, and again... LOL. I wish someone would have offered a mediafire link. I hate uploading.com.
 
So here is the story; I rebooted my phone, and it got stuck on the Cyanogenmod 6, loading screen. I kept taking out the battery, and putting it back on. But nothing. Still got stuck. I decided to try to reinstall Cyanogenmod, by doing the steps. So I reset most of the things, then when it got to the point to select the zip from the SD card, I found out that the g-apps, or the cyanogenmod files were not there(for some odd reason). So I decided to reboot the phone. And now, it stays stuck on the the white Huawei screen :/ This really sucks. I am now planning on buying the Galaxy Indulge. Which is a bit expensive, but it might be worth it. If there is a way to fix this, then I would not buy the Galaxy Indulge. Can anyone help? Pleaseeeee!!

buy a sd card reader ($10) and connect it to your pc and put in the g-apps and the cynagon files ;)
