Help Problems with my EVO 3D

ronj

Newbie
I've had this phone since July 3rd. I am not rooted and the only 3rd party app I have is Amazon app store.

My phone freezes.
I can only recall the times it freezes is when I'm using my Advanced Task Killer app to kill all the apps.
The screen turns black, and the bottom 4 buttons are lit.
It happens other times but I can't recall the instance.
I HATE rebooting by taking out the battery because I have a case. And this case isn't easily taken apart.

My screens get re-arranged.
I'm talking about the scene's order. They're all disorganized. I recently found that if I press home twice I can easily re-arrange the pages. However, this is annoying.

My icons lose it's picture.
I know the simple fix is to just change the scene and change it back to the original. However, sometimes when I do this, my screens get re-arranged.

I don't expect anyone to know how to solve the problem. But if you do have advice, please post them.

I was also wondering how long is the warranty where I can just get a replacement from Sprint? (I got mine online). Can I just go to the store? And transferring all my data....will it be smooth?

Thanks!

hi,

all of your issues have been discussed in several threads.

i would just first off do a hard reset and start completely fresh. DO NOT USE THE TASK KILLER!!! that is causing you many issues.

i dont think your phone is physically in trouble, its more like some glitch and/or the tasker killing things causing the issue.

if you have TEP insurance sprint will replace it as long as you have the insurance, so dont worry about how long you have had the handset.

as far as needing your info to transfer, google will backup nearly everything.

Your big issue is your phone locking up. Mine did the same thing and finally would no longer boot up. Sprint replaced it and the new one has had no problems since I've had it, three weeks now. Hasn't locked up once. Get a new one!

Good threads to know -

Disappearing icons are answered in question 2.16 of the FAQ.

And use of that task killer is covered in a thread linked in the forum guide.

Hope those help.

Definitely check on our info here for backing up and doing a hard reset. Sprint is liable to do that reset anyway, so it's a good start.

My 3rd 3D is going back today. It's the worst one yet. Not only can people not hear me on this one, but it will not take a charge and will not turn on. Last night, 24 hours after I got this third one, I tried to plug in the charger for overnight and could not get the amber charging light to come on. I tried to turn the phone on to check it out and it would not come on either. Don't ry to tell me to take the back cover off and make sure the little rubber tip is lined up with the power switch, because it is. I even tried to turn it on using the tip of a ball point pen. NOTHING! Now, I am without a phone until 1:00PM today when I can go back to the Sprint store. This time I'm going to solve the problem once and for all. I'm going to revert back to the 4G.

Maybe some of you folks are having good luck with it, but I can honestly tell you it has been nothing but a nightmare since I bought my first one on June 24th. Since cell phones came on the market, this is the first time I have been without one due to inferior products.

That's what warrantys are for. I had my 4G for a year with no issues and my 3G also hasn't had any issues. Based on the posts in this forum, I'd say most people are pretty happy with their phones - sorry it hasn't worked out for you.

I know it must be frustrating to look forward to a phone and then have problems. Mine has been great too and I am extremely happy with it. I use it constantly, definitely putting it through its paces. I hope people who are having issues get them resolved soon so they can see for themselves what an amazing device it really is.

Once again, the maker really needs to step up the pace in quality control.

I'm on my second one, so I can relate.

We have a forum sticky with HTC contact information for complaints. Please let them know how their sloppiness has hurt you and their sale. Maybe we can make them listen.

I wouldn't hold much confidence in HTC doing anything or showing any concern. Their solution for all things is "contact your provider for warranty action." Below is a copy of the response I received from HTC after sending them an indepth post regarding my 3rd bad EVO 3D that had, at the time, left me without a phone. This was actually my second complaint to them. I had sent one previously after my second 3D went bad. The response was the same as the one below, almost word for word. I honestly believe it is a canned response.

Maybe after Sprint handles several thousand phones twice...They will get tired of all the customer service hours applied to returning and replacing "new" phones and pressure HTC into improving their QC program, or assembly techniques. Of course, that is wishful thinking!

This is the response I received from HTC!

Dear OJ Webster,

Thank you OJ for contacting HTC Technical Support. I apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced with your previous devices. First I would recommend contacting your provider for warranty the store provides. In most cases your device can be repaired or replaced through the provider. If they are unable to assist you, you can contact our HTC Repair/Warranty Department at 1-888-617-1113 (8 AM - 8 PM EST M-F). I do apologize for any inconvenience that you have experienced.

To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number 11USCW31ENA000375.

Sincerely,

That's insane that you are on your 3rd EVO 3D. I know it's a pain but I would go for a 4th one. Keep going till they get it right.

They gotta give you something for your inconvenience free accessories or something.

In cases like this they always give you something. I got a free Mac Book Pro in a situation like this. Apple tried to repair my 3 year old Powerbook G4 laptop 4 times. They got sick of trying to fix it and gave me the latest Mac Book Pro at the time when they should have given me a refurb.
