Root NOOB to all this !!

Jenzos1

Lurker
I have just got a 2nd hand HTC Desire ( Orange Phone) it is unlocked for any networks, But i wanna root my phone. I Had iPhone b4 JB & Unlocked done that np. but this Android there is so many ROMS & stuff. Is it easy 2 root the phone & unlock it or if i root phone will the unlock stay in place is 1st question. As far as workied out it is hard to Brick your phone if u do the radio part on it but some ROMS come complete with all this.

My HTC Desire is version 2.2 , pvt4 s-on, saw that it had to be pvt4 40.000 or you have to install a different program 1st

SO MUCH STUFF ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT, Know once ake the 1st step & get it done rest should be ok ALWAYS the 1st part :p

THANKS ALL

Read the FAQ's through twice or three times, go away for a hour and du something else. Come back an read the FAQ's again.

Du it!

ok so i will read the stuff about root a phone then i try it out :), just got myself cheap sony x10 so that is not unlocked or anything so can try out on that least i have 1 Android phone to try to root 1st

THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW GET ON IN FEW DAYS :):)

Remember that this is a Desire forum, so the advice in the FAQs and guides is written for that phone only. The rooting procedure will be different for the Sony.

Also ROMs for one phone will not work on another - sometimes the same ROM has versions for different phones, e.g. CyanogenMod, but you need to use the right version for your handset.
