How to use rooted lg optimus-s as wireless hotspot

D-Reg

Lurker
I just rooted my lg optimus-s today and I am able to use usb tethering on my laptop. (I'm actually using it now on this forum) I want wireless tethering on my phone so I can go online with my ps3 but when I try to use "wireless hotspot", HotSpot Toggle", or "Hotspot Widget" I keep getting the message "Network is unavailable". I also have a "wireless tethering" app but when i start tethering and scan for wireless ssid's on my ps3 i don't see mine. When i open the "wireless tethering app, the download says 0.4kb, 0.0kbps and the upload says 0.4kb, 0.0kbps. Can somebody please help me?

i tried that too, but it didn't work either.
This is what it looks like when i start the wifi tether:

then it just stays like that

You are creating an Ad-hoc network with this app. You may need an Infrastructure.

When it comes to WiFi speeds on the Optimus S they are very slow. (Welcome to Sprint)

I read that the HotSpot Widget by Muller (the same developer as your tethering app can create an Infrastructure network).

If you are running VD on your device you may need to flash a custom ROM in order to get the Widget to work.

quick question, I have CM7 installed, will sprint know that i am tethering?

Maybe if it use it in small amounts

install rootexplorer and go into your system and either delete data services manager apk or put a .bak extension on the end of it and that will stop them from seeing where your signal is being redirected to... if you're going to delete... make a copy and save it somewhere just in case.. but it works just fine and its an optimus.. its not an evo or a photon with killer speeds.. not terrible speeds but not the best
