I know (think) that Samsung has said previously that we would get gingerbread. If we do get gingerbread, they will probably just forget about us after that. I don't even care about gingerbread. I would much rather just go from froyo to ICS.

Do you think that Sammy and Metro will give us ICS? And if not, will it ever be available as a custom rom?

What do you guys think?

the only way for us to get ics is for the dev to make a rom and thats it,metro and samsung will never give us anything good because metro is pre paid
samsung didnt even give us a proper kernal and all thanks to the devs THEY MADE IT POSSIBLE !!!!

we still got a messed up kernel have some faith in metro they did give us indulge didnt they LOL
 
I dont know about GB but I read that Google will release ICS for all Android phones. Pretty much everyone is going to have the same version of ICS on their Andrid powered phone.
If its true and it does happen then bummer, thats what i liked about Android. That they all were different but nontheless kind of excited to get ICS.
 
The android phones from ics onwards are gonna have the same android version, yes. But the old ones? Most likely they'll just have to remain the way they are. I believe Google's gonna force some basic requirements on manufacturers. But they'll still be able to ''skin'' the device to their likings,

I felt the same way when I heard it too. I mean it just makes sense. One OS. one version. For everyone.
Back in the pre-internet days, I could understand it would be hard to keep everything up to date, but with phones nowadays capable of attaining download speeds of ~25Mbps+ with more to come "very soon", it makes no sense for them not to be able to auto-update.
Let the manufacturers compete on extra hardware features, not the version of Android their sport of how timely their updates are! :)
