Help Problems with sent mail in e-mail account

Newbie
I'm a new Galaxy S2 user and have set up phone to sync with my Windows Live Mail e-mail account provided by Talk Talk. When I set it up I didn't have to go through the manual set up, just put in my e-mail address and password and ticked the 'set as premium account(POP/IMAP) box.

Receiving and sending messages works OK but messages sent from the phone don't appear in either the sent folder on the phone or the sent folder on my home pc? Messages created on the phone and waiting to be sent don't appear in the outbox folder on the phone either.

Inbox messages are fine and appear in both phone and pc.

The settings for my e-mail account on the home pc include having ticked the 'leave copy of message on server' box.

My talk talk incoming mail server is POP3 and outgoing is SMTP.

I've done a bit of a trawl on the internet but can't seem to find an answer for this particular problem but have come across stuff that might be relevant where it talks about whether your e-mail server is POP3 or IMAP.

Trouble is I'm not very technically minded so get a bit confused with some of the advice.

Can someone help identify what the particular problem is and talk me through correcting it in a simple step by step way?

Many thanks.

A quick search of the forum reveals this thread which may help...

I have to say that TalkTalk tend to be a nightmare to set up.

Hope this helps. :D

Thanks for the link. However having read through the thread not sure it does help, particularly as it relates to HTC Desire users.

I'm wondering if I shouldn't have set it up as a premium account but gone through the manual set up process? Just tried that but can't get the Galaxy S" to even recognise the incoming server details.

Also the thread confused me as I'm not sure if I should be using virgin (as my sim provider) in the outgoing server address or stick with talk talk?

HELP!

Perhaps some kind sole can talk me through the set up step by step indicating what exactly has to be typed into each field for both the incoming and outgoing servers?

I've used a work around as it's quite clear that setting up Talk Talk accounts is notoriously difficult.

Used the advice on a thread in a Talk Talk forum where I use G Mail to import and send my Talk Talk e-mail whilst retaining all mail on the Talk Talk server so as not lose any mail.

Really simple process and beats bxxxxxxxg around trying to set up Talk Talk as a separate account.

Not sure if this will help but... I found that I could receive incoming talktalk email on my HTC desire but sending email only worked when I was connected via WiFi to my talktalk broadband box at home. However I've now finally managed to correct this as follows:
Go to Settings - Accounts and Sync - IMAP/POP3 mail - Account settings
The incoming settings were all working ok so click "next" twice so that you are on "Outgoing server settings"
Tick "Login required"
Enter username (which in my case is same as my talktalk email address) and password for talktalk (in my case this is same password I use to log on to talktalk webmail)
Then (and this is the crucial bit) in the box that said SMTP server remove the talktalk smtp server address and instead insert "smtp.o2.co.uk"
Security should be "none" and server port 25
Click next etc to finish settings
Good luck!
