Spoke with Verizon and HTC today but didn't get any info. Anyone know where the info on 10000 being today......the rest Friday came from?
Android Central is the site that reported this information but doesn't say who gave them this information. Though it seems from the Verizon Forums that the update did start getting pushed out today as reported, it is now a waiting game.

On the same note I talked to a HTC Executive today and he only knew that it would be going out within the next couple days, so Everyone I guess should have it by Friday. *Crosses Fingers for tonight* haha:p

HTC doesn't control how the update is sent out, it's completely in verizon's hands.

it was one thing people did when froyo was being released, not sure how effective it was, or if verizon fixed that "glitch".

There was a lot of rumors that went around that people said forced them to get the update.
Ahh Okay, well I just did it a couple different tries with a restart and still says my system is Up to Date though we all know this is false :P

Been trying *#*#checkin#*#* / *#*#2432546#*#* all day and nothing. I have tried reboots, changing time & date. Looks like Verizon fixed that bug...

Something odd though. With the time & date changed to a week ahead I got a MCC_OTA process running now....Interesting...

UPDATE: Once you dial *#*#checkin#*#* the MCC_OTA process shows up.

So, my time says 6:00 am and at Tuesday August 23. did the phone checkin dialer thing ---------------------/\
and no "checkin succeeded" comes up in notification bar..

Re: Gingerbread Update for HTC Droid Incredible - Page 8 - Verizon Wireless Community

According to a Verizon employee, HTC is the one with the go ahead to push the update. *Hides* Don't kill the messenger. lol Just stating what I am reading. :D

yeah, they give the go ahead to release it, but verizon decides how it is distributed, and how many people per day get it.

There is surprisingly a decent amount of planning that goes into distributing OTA's around the network.

The time forward trick worked for me on froyo. I posted about it on this forum. HTC updater only checks every 10-14 days. Moving the date forward along with other stuff

If you got time, you can look up my post on how I did it. Can't guarantee it works but it worked for many

There is also a surprising amount of BS(or lack of information) that comes out of Verizon and/or HTC. Since they both say the other is responsible for the updates.

the amount of BS never surprises me
Nope its not surprising at all. Loved getting a call from a Verizon Executive after a complaint about lack of update information and the rep stated Verizon has no say if HTC is to upgrade any device, which later I found out that Verizon has to give the ok if a device is to get an update or not.

Carrier and Manufacture will always throw each other under the bus.

You have no idea how many reps I've seen swear up and down that the update comes from Google.

I won't be accepting the update due to root but just a not so random thought...anybody remember the eleventy zillion threads when Froyo dropped and borked tons of SD cards? May not happen again but if it were me, I'd back up my SD contents to the computer before accepting. Then again, I'm a better safe than sorry guy. Here's one of the many threads as a reminder:

Just sayin...take with as many grains of salt as you want.

Glad I did that just a couple days ago. :) Thanks for the heads up. Better to be safe than sorry.
